My first reason for going to Kenya was to see Tamsin while she was still in travelling mode. Secondly I wanted to see the flamingo on Lake Nakuru and finally anything else was a bonus. I booked the holiday for both of us on the internet and it turned out really well. The weather was similar to England at this time of year. Costa Rica blog is on its way but AOL broadband not working at present so would be very slow to upload lots of photos. Here is a short pictorial thank you to Tamsin for my Mother's Day pressie. (Of course I had to choke back the tears.) I love it - thank you very much indeed. Going to the theatre with Neil when he is back from skiing (when he gets there. Neil invited us to his new flat which is just off Tower Bridge Road in Bermondsey. He is sharing it with a friend from university, Ray and it is a spacious 2 bedroomed third floor apartment. Much amusement was had by the football game Leigh had bought Neil for Christmas. It was like the teletubbies playing soccer. NB He has bought Iris a remote controlled helicopter!! Christmas weekend started with a visit to see Ipswich play at home against Stoke (coincidence as Tamsin was at Keele). I made it as far as the lunch - very convivial. Ipswich went on to lose one nil, but I managed to do some last minute Christmas shopping. As far as Christmas is concerned I think the pictures speak for themselves. To show Tamsin that life is carrying on without her on the lead up to Christmas I am adding this blog with photos to show her it is chilly here and we are nearly ready for Christmas. It is tuesday morning and Paul flew out today to join Tamsin in Sydney for Christmas. At home it is rather sad to have no children here for Christmas but life must go on so this is our frosty tuesday morning for you to enjoy. Tonga doesn't bother getting up whereas Dori is raring to go as usual and ready for anything you can throw at her - literally!! I give myself mild frostbite writing Christmas messages while feeding the animals. Boris follows Tonga's example and stays in the warm while everyone else is ready for breakfast.... read more

Have been rather a long time adding this blog. Started visiting relations in the wst. Quite cold there. Had good time with them seeing daily life and doing some special things together. Spent four days there then took an internal flight to New York where I met up with Leigh who arrived the day before. We visited a sculpture park on the site of the old agricultural fair ground in New Jersey on the Wednesday. We did a tour of Ground Zero which was very poignant and doubly sad all the controversy about what to put there. We spent time with the Zieloney family; a dinner with Jay and Marilyn at a very nice fish restaurant, gallery visits with Marilyn the next day to see Annie Liebovitz ,Dylan and MOMA where you are allowed to take ... read more

This is the 5th trip I have done with Denise and friends. Starting the year of her 50th birthday we have been to Spain three times, Portugal once and now Tuscany. It was a James Villas holiday with two hire cars. The Ryannair flight to Pisa was very quick and efficient, the Hertz rental less so as they were servicing half the flight and the queue was round the airport. Luckily we were fourth in the queue but then there was a 30 minute wait for a bus that took you a walking distance to get your car. The villa was situated four kilometres up a dirt track on a hugh estate between Cecina and Volterra on the edge of Chianti country.
