Well Done! - From: A Last Minute Trip to Luxembourg - Patton's Memorial
I enjoyed reading about Patton's Memorial. I am ashamed to say that I have visited Luxembourg many times, even living in Luxembourg City for 10 months while I was in high school, and I never visited the cemetery in Hamm. The next time I visit, it will be a top priority.

Breendonk leaves you uneasy - From: Breendonk
I have visited Breendonk now at least 3 times (with students and with people visiting). It left a deep impression on all of them. And even me, who heard the horror stories for a 3rd time, I could not help it that tears came up again. I usually go for a good Duvel beer to wash it away. It sure is a place you should visit if you are nearby. In Mechelen you have another Kazerne you can visit that is connected to the history of the Fort of Breendonk. I still have to visit that one. You took nice pictures. They describes very well the atmosphere there. Dannie (Irisbe)

I hear ya on the guilt of not speaking the language. When I realize how all my bi-lingual European friends are speaking English just because I'm around, I feel a bit guilty. Oh well, it's good practice for them, right?

The tourguide - From: Gent by Night - or - Ten is Too Many
Hey, I'm one of the tour guides and reading brians impressing of Ghent is both moving and funny. For me, it was a night i will not soon forget. I know 'the local' brian was talking about and the next day he told me that he had met an american who had made a good point about GB but he had forgotten the point. There is talk of a second beer related activity. Brian, hold on to your hat my friend !!!

I live here in Ostend, and was surprised by all the nice comments you wrote on our city. Thanks. Still a lot of other stuff to discover along our short coast. Nieuwpoort (New Port) is more beautiful than Ostend. Greets, Steven

Excellent Story - From: Gent by Night - or - Ten is Too Many
Hey Brian! That sounds like a fun pub crawl. Great narration and photos. I laughed at the image of you pondering a pile of junk "with a density approximately equal to that of a neutron star"....

Fun Times - From: Gent by Night - or - Ten is Too Many
Brian- Look like you had a pretty good time that night. Love the picture of you "calling it a night" at the ESN Pub. I must agree with you, the owner/proprietor of flea market explosion looks like the type of guy that would run a place like that, really interesting atmosphere. I'm a little disappointed though, I was hoping to see a picture of you trying to get on the bike, let alone riding it. Fun stuff.

WHAT A GREAT STORY! Thanks for sharing that. Spring break was here this week...kids and I went fishing in Branson - great place on the lake. Abbi and Steve were married last Saturday - if you haven't heard from Syd already, her and Matt went - she said it was the best wedding EVER...sad I couldn't make it. Missing you!

i must agree - From: Breendonk
they are very impressive pictures you took there Brian. However, I agree with you and the picture of the dog. Breendonk must have felt like such an unwelcoming experience, especially as a memorial.

Language - From: In Paris (France, not Hilton) Day 4 and Day 5
Hello! I'm a 15 year old girl name Andrea and I'm going to be going to Europe this summer with my aunt. I'm very interested in Art. I found your site and absolutely loved it! I was wondering what language you spoke the most? And what was your favorite museum or if there is anything that you think I should see. I don't know a whole lot about Europe. But Paris is the first place on our list. :) Then Italy. Hope to hear from you Andrea

Thanks Joe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - From: Rainy Sunday
Yes, Joe, I'm aware that the name of the open area is "De Vrijdag Markt" (I live here, remember), but I was referring to the market itself, not the physical location. Depending on which day you visit De Vrijdag Markt, you may find clothes, food, pet supplies, etc.

I straight up dig the museum scene. The last art museum I went to was years ago in St. Louis, MO, with Jessica Webb (Burgess). Anyway, had some nice pictures, but hardly a comparison. Glad you are enjoying yourself.

More info on pet market - From: Rainy Sunday
Hi there, I've just returned from Ghent, Belgium myself and walked through the (Pet Market), the correct name is 'De Vrijdag Markt' which literally translates as 'The Friday Market'. You must try the Belgium chips and stoverij meat stew that they sell in the green cabin on the side of the market....bootiful!! Also a bit of history for you the statue in the middle is of Jacob van Artevelde. He is famous for introducing the textile industry into Belgium from England.
