| 26th December 2009 Linelle Kelley | Thank you - From: Christmas in Slovakia Once again, thank you for your travel blog. I enjoy it! Don't feel too badly about not being here for the snow storm. Our kids were all planning to come here today, but that was an impossibility. So, Christmas will be next weekend. I don't think December 25 is really Jesus' birthday anyway. You are in my prayers as you approach your wedding day. I'll be thinking about you two and waiting for picdtures. |
| 26th December 2009 Judy Krysl | Merry Christmas! - From: Christmas in Slovakia Thanks to your grandmother, I got to enjoy this picture journey! Oh, it's OK that you missed our white-out Christmas. Solitude has it's price. It will take a while to dig out. |
| 26th December 2009 Dena | wow! - From: Christmas in Slovakia so pituresque! makes me think i shouldve RSVP'd to come, darnit! |
| 1st December 2009 Linelle Kelley | - From: Gypsy School in Brzotin Brett, I loved this blog. It reminded me of the gypsy village we passed by the night before Janka's wedding and of her cousin who was going to teach in a gypsy school. Thanks! |

| 17th November 2009 Linelle Kelley | interesting - From: Moravia, Germany and Cannstatter Volksfest Brett, once again, I've enjoyed your blog. Have you been to Herrnhut in Moravia? They were a group who had prayer going on 24 hours a day for over 100 years. I'd like to go there. All the places you are visiting sound magical. |
| 3rd November 2009 Deanna | - From: All Saints Day in Slovakia Thanks Brett, for a very informative and beautiful depiction of All Saints Day. |
| 3rd November 2009 Keith and Pete | a beautiful tradtion - From: All Saints Day in Slovakia I'm glad to see an entry about this special day. It is one of the things we miss the most about living in Poland. Even the trams changed the city routes to accomodate everyone that wanted to visit the cemeteries. Every grave had little lanterns on them, even the old forgotten ones, thanks to the churches. I watched during the days leading up to November 1st, to see the graves washed down and the leaves and debris swept away, before the flowers and candles were arranged. Thoughout the city, all statues and memorials have the laterns and flowers. And the crowds in the cemetries! We were entranced as we joined the stream of families visiting their loved ones. It is a beautiful alternative to our "October 31st". Thanks Brett for the photos! |
| 2nd November 2009 Linelle Kelley | Very interesting - From: All Saints Day in Slovakia Brett, thanks for the information you sent. It was quite interesting. The pictures were great. And - a couple of them definitely looked like flying over a city. I had to tell myself that wasn't what I was seeing. |
| 2nd November 2009 Katie Kugler | WOW - From: All Saints Day in Slovakia This would be an awesome experience. I am one who does not necessarily understand why we celebrate Halloween by dressing up as different characters, whether they are fictional or real. Reading about this tradition makes me wish the United States would have celebrated the holiday this way! Can't wait to see you guys!! |
| 1st October 2009 Sarah | - From: Majdanek Concentration Camp Thanks so much for these pictures they are truly amazing and you really helped me with a project. This really helps show what it must have been like. |

| 3rd August 2008 Allison | - From: Cologne, Dusseldorf, Lennestadt, Martin You went to germany! I hope you are having a great time. It looks like you are. I was also in Cologne when I went last summer but not for very long. IF you went to the Netherlands from Cologne you probably went right by Miriam's house in Munster. ( : I also saw that you wrote on Anita's wall saying that you will be back to Europe twice in the next year. IF so, you should come visit me in Berlin, because I just found out that I was accepted to study there next year from January-July.Well, hope all is well -Allison |
| 30th July 2008 ztempest | We loved Torun too - From: Poland - Czestochowa, Torun My husband + I just returned from our European Road Trip having moved to the Czech Republic from the USA in 2007. We did Poland and Torun. It is a fantastic city, I agree. From the castle ruins to the river at sunset, the gingerbread and the churches with glitted gold to overlooking the city from the clock tower. There are bits and pieces that are still to be discovered there, and we spend 2 days finding so many things that are not described in a book. Only problem besides too many tourist kiosks are the roads ... Cheers !!! |
| 29th June 2008 Craygee | - From: Poland - Kolobrzeg, Wroclaw, and Poznan What did you think of Wroclaw?? it was my favorite place out of the handful i visited in Polska!!! isn't the Old Town marvelous?! and South Asians in Poland, NEATO!!!! golly what an amazing roadtrip!!!! ps. sylvia= sexy ass bait |

| 29th June 2008 Craygee | AHHH - From: Poland - Czestochowa, Torun HOW FREAKIN FUN!! and whatchoo talkin bout foo, that vehicle is the BOMBDOTCOM!!!! |
| 29th June 2008 Craygee | AMAZING - From: Gypsy School and Village BRETT the photos are beautiful and your experience at the school was incredibly interesting to read. the children in the photos remind me so much of the kids i worked with in Georgia, especially the part about how they all went positively nuts when you busted out a camera. reading this entry brings a really humanizing perspective on the Roma population and surely this day went above and beyond anything you'd find through pedantic means. ... and geezus, the part about the kid eating banana peels?? are there any relief programs within Europe that support starving "gypsy" children and families who actually value education? probably worth investigating, golly, what a remarkable day this must've been. |
