Hello everyone and welcome to a belated update of our blog, almost 16 months after we have left home and I’m delighted to announce that Rebecca has found it in her heart to trust me with my very own take on our misadventures around the land. So, what’s to report? Well after nearly 5 months of inactivity and our brains leaking out any sense we once had in that pit of a supermarket we had accumulated a fistful of dollars to have a go at something different. Our remaining days there where quite surprising, The employees of Coles supermarket, Mosman Park, [View Full Entry]

We missed out a blog on another place that we visited in Western Australia..........this place being Rottnest Island, we visited there on my birthday. Rottnest Island is a 20km (30mins) boat ride from Fremantle docks. We were lucky enough to have bikes that Lynda and Sean had kindly lent to us. The Island itself is only 11km long and 4.5km wide so nice and easy to ride around!! The ferry that you take accross charges you a fee of $12 to take your own bike with you, which we were quite shocked about but it is still cheaper than renting one [View Full Entry]

Our apologies for not updating this any sooner but to be honest we have not really had anything exciting to write to you all.........working in a supermarket is obviously very exciting though ha ha ha! Also we don't seem to have time to do anything but work eat and sleep at the moment, it's a public holiday today so we have had time to relax and I can get around to writing! So what have we been upto....hmmmmmm We have been making the most of going to see bands and artists that are playing here at small venues for not a [View Full Entry]

HAPPY EASTER READERS! I hope that you are all so full of chocolate eggs that the bunny left for you that you can not move.................. Work, work, work and not a lot of play for us for the past few weeks I'm afraid! From the last blog we in fact started working for the supermarket with a casual position and have ended up being there full time! The supermarket is called Cole's and is the place that is 10min walk away from the house which is fab as it is saving us so much on transport costs. I am working as [View Full Entry]

Yep we are back in Australia, just at the other side of the country! Which is miles and miles away from where we have visited before. We went and changed our tickets in Auckland before we left, as our tickets still said we were going to South America so that cost us a nice ripe sum of $502 for the privilege...........lesson to be learnt do not change your route on a round the world ticket as they charge you taxes left right and centre for things you have never heard of! We had a good flight over to sunny hot Perth [View Full Entry]

Two German backpackers, an Israeli backpacker, a camper van with three wheels.........the fourth wheel in a nearby field, all sat outside the house on a normal sunny afternoon here! I was just getting out of the shower when auntie Judy shouted to me, I sent Ste down, who had looked out of the window moments before as he had heard a loud noise and wondered what it was. As he looked out he saw James making his way out to what he thought was a customer at the veg stall they have set up at the gates...........what he found was a [View Full Entry]

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYBODY AND A BELATED MERRY CHRISTMAS! We hope that you enjoyed the festive season and you are all ready for this new year 2008. Now then last time I wrote we were on the countdown to Christmas..........it is strange here as it is nowhere near as commercial as it is in the UK, which is a good thing we feel. Before the 'few days to go' countdown Clayton had us organised to fit in as many fishing excursions as we could. The main one being to Snapper Rock. Snapper rock is a top secret location that only [View Full Entry]

Kaikoura was a bit of a disappointment, we booked to go and see and swim the dolphins the morning before the ferry so we got up at some silly hour.........it had rained and the wind had got up during the night so we were in two minds if we would still go. On arriving at the office we were told that the skipper was making a decision on if we were able to go or not due to the weather. After half an hour of waiting we were told that the weather was too bad to go! Bloody typical mother nature [View Full Entry]

Dunedin was the next stop, a true Scottish settlement complete with a cadbury's chocolate factory which smelled divine! We travelled down to the peninsula where all the wildlife is, it was a beautiful day again so the views were once again spectacular! You are all probably getting a bit sick of us saying that! There are a few well known places that are obviously in the lonely planet guide, one of these such places is Sandfly Bay. a bit of a nightmare to find the road as it is like a maize with roads going up hills left right and centre! New Zealand keeps on getting better and better, every place we go we see something new and unique that we haven't seen before it is just simply wonderful! Well from the last entry we yet again have done so much.........The weather cleared up for the day in Queenstown so we were able to take the walk up the hill, which if you go or have ever been you will know which hill i mean, the one with the gondola on the side for the lazy people ha ha ha! we walked it anyway it took about an hour or so but [View Full Entry]
