New Zealand keeps on getting better and better, every place we go we see something new and unique that we haven't seen before it is just simply wonderful! Well from the last entry we yet again have done so much.........The weather cleared up for the day in Queenstown so we were able to take the walk up the hill, which if you go or have ever been you will know which hill i mean, the one with the gondola on the side for the lazy people ha ha ha! we walked it anyway it took about an hour or so but the views are so worth it! you get a great view of the surrounding areas as well as Queenstown itself. Up here the 'Luge' is situated. the luge is basically a three wheeled kiddy cart ... read more

Here we are in Queenstown now, can not believe that we are getting through this country so fast. I guess it is because the last time we were driving Oz and it seemed to take forever to get anywhere as it is so vast! The drive here was stunning, the scenery was as if it has been painted on. Along our way we have visited the pancake rocks, which are strange rock formations that are flat like pancakes from erosion and weathering, blow holes throw water into the air during high tide! We arrived in high tide and high winds so could see it and get a bit wet in the process ha ha ha! Then to one of the best things we have both seen yet....the glaciers! The Glaciers are something that i was really ... read more

Abel Tasman national park really does have everything...............this is how our three days went....... DAY ONE We started off by driving to Marahau, the gateway to the national park. The kind lady at the backpackers had told us that we could get our large backpacks transferred for a fee of $10 per pack to the campsite that we were due to stay at. As the bags weighed somewhere in the region of maybe 10-15kgs each with food tent, every sort of clothes, sleeping bags, camping cooker and well i am sure you can imagine, we decided that as we were to walk 22kms today that it would be a good idea to do that. The sun was shining which has been quite rare since we have been here! We sorted out the bags and off we ... read more

After a few hours of touring the New Zealand countryside aboard a bus, we arrived in Whangarei about an hour and a half from Kaitaia. We were greeted by My Uncle Jamie and cousin Laura who we were very pleased to see! The roads here in North Island are so bendy, the guy who made them got paid by the corner supposedly! We crossed over a gorge on the east side but we couldn't see much as it was dark at that point. Once we had our bags out of the car we made our way inside to a very over excited mini poodle who's name is Lucy........she is like a small black and white sheep that runs around like a nutter! After she calmed down and we finished fussing her we could say hi to ... read more

Bula to you all! Bula is the Fijian word for just about everything, it is hello a dance and they just randomly say it for the fun of it! We arrived in Fiji quite late and were greeted by a band of men in skirts with flowers in there hair it was great. We were soon ushered into an office with lots of options thrown at us. We had an idea of what islands we wanted to go to but were not sure how to get there and about the accommodation that was available, as we have not got a book on Fiji.....which was a bit of a mistake! We ended up with a boat ticket one way to the Yasawa islands. The Yasawas are known to be the nicest islands and are the furthest away. ... read more

Here we go again..........not updating this blog as much as i would like, to let you guys know what we are up to! Before leaving Brisbane and Queensland we went up to stay with Martin and Romana for a night again. We visited mount coolum. Mount coolum is not very high but it is a great point to have a birds eye view of the sunshine coast! We could see right along the coastline and you could see the developments already starting to happen, it's a shame really as the coastline is lovely there and eventually it will be built up to the eye balls with big horrid hotels!!!! We also went along to a place called Springbrook mountain. It is a big national park with loads of walks and waterfalls. On the day that we ... read more

We are currently in Brisbane, and we got here in the following way..........We hired ‘Bender’ who was a fab wicked van! Wicked vans are the cheapest vans that you can hire here they come complete with everything you need, sleeping blankets, pillows, camping stove, cooking utensils and various other things that are needed on the road. They also come complete with a spray paint job that could be anything from Scooby doo’s mystery machine to men’s bodies on the side, we had Bender from futurama so have had all the kids looking at us and laughing! We were quite lucky really it could have been allot worse! We started our 8 day journey from Cairns to Brisbane which is roughly 1500kms on the 1st of August and went for a drive up to Port Douglas which ... read more

The last time we wrote we were still in Lombok, Indonesia the story since then is this........ We left Lombok by ferry that took around 4 hours to Bali which is what we expected then once we could see Bali from the rocking boat we were told by a local that the boat had stopped as the ferry terminal was full and sometimes it takes 7 hours to get off!!! We waited 2hours sat on our backpacks eating there version of pot noodles. We were picked up in the port and taken to Ubud; Ubud is very green and very ‘arty’. The usual greetings from different hotel representatives trying to get you into there hotel. We went with a guy that had home stay bungalows that were out of the main town. The main street in ... read more

After leaving Gili Meno we headed to Senarau ready to meet one of Morris' friends that runs climbs up Rinjani. We planned to do a 3day 2 night trek up to the summit which is just under 4ooom high! Once we arrived into Senarau calling in at a chemist nurse place to get some antibiotics for an infected mozzie bite for Ste's leg........we were greeted by Kario Morris's friend, a small guy with loads of Afro hair!!!! We put our bags into a very dirty room we headed up to the organisers restaurant. The restaurant overlooked Mount Rinjani, it didn't seem to look as high as it did from Gili Meno as we were already 900m high in the small town. We got a drink and then sat down to talk about prices and tours. We ... read more

What a beautiful place that not many visit!!! Gili meno is a small island off the coast of Lombok Indonesia........it is basically just a big lump of sand with trees on surrounded by clear waters full of turtles! Over looking Mount Rinjani every morning when the sky was clear of clouds! The only transport being your feet and pony and trap, you have to be careful you don't run into a chicken as the island is full of them clucking around! We went from Bali to Lombok by bus then by a ferry that took around 4hrs, it was a big boat full of very uncomfortable wooden benches that we sat on (we were lucky as some people did not get a seat). It was full of locals trying to sell you everything before we ... read more
