Amazing Hi Bernii, those photos are amazing. I love reading your blog - have I already said that you are messing with my life and making me feel very discontent with my lot!
The colours of the rivers are incredible - in France I called them 'liquid celadon' and I think that might be the best name for that tealy whitish sort of colour. Its caused by rock flour - tiny suspended fragments of glacial rock ground to a powder. Boring boring boring here. Love Pie x
Coffee and donuts Looks like a diet of coffee, donuts and other pastries developing here. Good to see. And I am loving the take-it-easy attitude. Hope you're having heaps of fun. The Lollii is having a good time at B's but she is exhausting B with what has been described as bossy behaviour, endless play, a sneak into the house and under the bed and having Annie and Freddie wrapped around her little paw. Also she has been described as a huge tummy on four skinny legs. Thailand is laziness personified and involves no shortage of pastries either. Looking forward to you next instalment! Lots of love xxx
Bike with basket Hi Bernii, you have got yourself a nice bike, but I would really say; get rid of that basket! Nice pics and stories though. Enjoy your ride!
And yes you can publish, for ever.
Why do you have grey hair? It is the eternal question. Sounds like you're having a great time. When I saw the title I figured it would be weather related. Glad that it is not! Neither I nor V are fussed about being famous on the net.
You bought a Jeep? The real impact that ad is supposed to have comes out for me in the similar sentence: you watched Star Trek? In 3D? Yes Nigel, I watched Star Trek. It's not brain surgery. I expect nothing less than chaos from you. (but I still didn't expect Star Trek)
The Giro I've been thinking of you and your good luck with weather while I watched snippets of the giro d'italia. Most of the time they seem to be riding through snow, sleet, or, at the very least, rain. Mmmm. It's twenty degrees today in Melbourne. There is another irony for you. Loving the blog!
That was certainly a surprise when I came on here, the first blog I read saying that you are heading towards Rēzekne. You'll be pleased to know that there is forecast a thunderstorm this weekend.
I hope you enjoy your time in Latvia, especially in/around Rēzekne.
Back to earth with a thud Hi Bernii,
What a great update....My memory of the people at Varna which is where we stayed (I think) in '99 also involves lots of jewellery - not really beach wear is it!! I thought alot of the guys looked like pimps or drug runners! :) I laughed at the comment re the women looking like hookers ..sort of fits doesnt it! Im sure the travelling will be alot easier in Turkey ...heaps of aussies there so lots of english. - I think they were following us in Norway...we bumped into a guy in Bergen that lived in glen waverly and the woman sitting next to me on the flight home grew up in Murrembeena!
Well its back to normal and Ive recovered from the jet lag - it took me 4 days but Lisi was alot quicker. We are already planning our next trip! Lots of great photos so will send you some ( in small file sizes) to have a look. travel safe
Damo and Lisi
Hi there Hi Bernii,
Just wanted to say hi...dont know if you got my email just before you left as I sent it from my mobile.
I really enjoyed our coffee, was just sorry that it ended so self absorbed.
Have been reading about your travels...haha. Makes me think I can't wait to be back in your shoes.
Take care, I'll write when I have a little more time.
Nikki :)
Wow!! Bernii you are truly amazing! I have loved reading about your travels it makes me feel like I right there with you (thats probably why the bikes so heavy). I look forward to the rest of the trip and your wonderful account.
Never seen you on anything else Sounds like the Brits have done it again! I never got to the Black sea when I was in Bulgaria, we were just up in the mountains, we found that best when we were skiing. do they still run the black market money? Glad to here the dogs are of a better class there.
No change here, I have been ill but I think I have now turned the corner, I never missed a day at work though, unlike the people I have give it too! Still I have lost about 14kg up to now.
Anyhow keep up with the news, I look forward to it and Ian and the kids are asking where you are now.
All the very best
Andy

Hello from the non-blasted hound Hello, and as per the title - hello from Bodhi - I think he misses you - especially seeing as I am never home at the moment with all the nutty things I have due. It's been a hell of a week and I just wanted to say thanks for providing some ulterior entertainment!! These blogs are great.
As you can see the charliie thing has started to happen - i have all the paperwork - now just need a day to do it. My work email has changed though - Charlston.Kia@ - because the jobshare has started - going quite well - it been great to be able to take sunday and tuesday off this week to finish stuff - especially texts and images which in the end I tried to do from scratch the day before it was due using abobe photoshop and illustrator - thanks - OH MY GOD!!!!!! - what was I thinking. It has been really strange trying to explain to my existing clients why my email address doesnt seem to have anything to do with me.
Keep writing - Ill keep reading and hopefully after next week will have time to write more - although it wont be nearly as exciting (as yours, not as above)
take care!! have fun and that camping by the Black Sea thing sounds like a fantastic idea to me!!
love charlie aka.......
Hey Bernii - the Blog is great! What a wonderful way to share your news. I've printed it off to read at home. Hope all is going well for you. Will email soon. How's the cycling and what about those carbs! Love from Liz xx
Yay...you've made it plus bb06 update Hello, I cant find your email adress in my uni email thingy and so I thoughts I would take up some space on your blog - tell me if it takes too much memeory (and then send me your email address to uni - I know its meant to be simple but...humour me). I am so happy to hear that you got there (relatively) easily!! And it sounds like you are not wasting any time getting out there!! Good on you! All's pretty normal here. Bodhi and I are fairly naked most of the time as promised. (Only kidding, Bodhi is too shy). I know you said you wanted to hear all the banal details but...I dont think I can do it. You know how it goes...went to work, came home, watched Buffy, didnt do my homework, went to uni, paniced, rushed my homework, went to the gym, felt sick, went home, watched Buffy, didn't do my homework...etc etc. But I will let you know a bit about BB06. Jamie and Katie got married (by Gaelan). The bridesmaids all wore pink. I think its just an elaborate ruse so that she can do the deed with him. Karen was evicted - no surprise there. And yesterday, and I missed it - damn work!!!! - Michael got outed as the insider. Everyone is really pooey with him. David cried!! And the intruders went in. There is a gay hairdresser that looks like a punk elvis (not a spunky one though), a loud mediterranean and a very pretty little thing who I think already has the hots for Jamie. I will let you know more as I find it out. There was not much to say about AO, surfice it to say that...how shall I put this...Jamie must have enormous feet - it even made David glad that jamie batted for the other side and would pose no risk of personal injury.
I'll try to write soon...or rather I will try to do something worth writing about soon. Have the best time. Happy trails and hope to hear more adventures soon!!!
Love Shellii
I'm on the road again. Back to the Balkans again. This time to discover some new places and reconnect with some old.
It's been 2 years since my last bike trip in the Baltics. No traversing the countryside with my brown, battered Giant. No schlepping of poor bicycle from one hemisphere to the other. Instead, a bike shall be bought there and ridden over hill and dale through Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and (Republic of) Macedonia.
No annual gym membership for me! I'm assured a thorough Balkan workout with all those mountains and a very healthy dose of history and cul... full info
