Great photos Those mountains look like a soviet sculpture. Amazing. The river shots are beautiful. It all looks amazing. And stunning mountains. Shame about the roads - especially for the down hill. Good to see you listening to the aches and taking it easy when you need to! Off to read the next.
Hey Bernii! Beautiful photos! We've just got back and now I find that you've escaped! I look forward to reading your blog. I'm certainly over writing mine! Sxxx
Loved reading your blog Sarah when I could. And I loved the photos too, especially of the hummingbirds. Brilliant. Will have to compare notes when I get back.
Hope the ease back is just that - easy.
Loving the blog Hiya Bernii, just a quick one to say loving the blog; your commentary and the photos are excellent, you really do have a writer's touch, I don't know why you keep saying you wish you did! You are certainly giving your body a huge workout and I expect to see you incredibly fit when you get back.
I know what you mean about strangers helping and opening their homes and hearts, I found the same when I was in Europe, particularly Germany and Switzerland. The people just put us to shame in regards to trust and care of others, even if they've never met them before. It's just such a humbling, lovely experience.
Well Winter is certainly starting to inch its chilly claws into our nights, with most nights around the 4 degree mark at the moment, both here and in Melb. The past few days have been sunny though which is lovely, but there's that real nip in the wind which tends to balance out the lovely sunshine. Still, it is Winter and you have to expect it.
Not much else to report from here at this stage. Still looking for work (although not TOO actively :-) ) but enjoying the country lifestyle.
Take care petal, stay safe, and get those legs working :-) I look forward to your next entry.
Fi xx
Keeping everything crossed for you for the work front - but they're not crossed too tightly (although they can be if you want them to be ;)
Legs have stopped working - for the next couple of days anyway. But they sure need to work a LOT harder than they have been that's for sure!
Lots of hills! Lucky for views and senses of achievement, otherwise hills would just be over-rated. Loving the blog. Keep in mind that every new person you meet is another Christmas card! You'll have to start writing them in October :)))
Bernii and Bosnia....banging on! You are such an inspiration my girl! I have had trouble seeing your earlier posts, but now all is good. I love your international style. No fear or at least very well hidden!!! So self sufficient and willing to trust. Just fabulous.
1 week until Semester break, 2 weeks of no TAFE, then into Term 3 and the hard work!! Getting over Thailand and the events around that time.
Incredibly cold at night at the moment. no cloud cover so 2c overnight for us here in Glen Waverley, 0c at Moorabbin and plenty of other places, so the news said. Same again tonight we are informed. The days have heated up to an amazing 14c!!!! Ok in the car, bit chilly on the pavement. Hope that the rest of your trip has just as many 'unplanned' detours and meetings, as what you've had so far. It makes for enjoyable reading whilst snuggled up in many blankets, sipping my hot cup of tea. Take care Bernii, and I guess I'll see ya, when I'm looking at ya! xoxox
Hey Bernii, you are going to have to increase the size of your pots to fit this travel blog on! Was going to go to bed but once I'd started reading I couldn't stop. I bought a kiln today to see if I could settle the dissatisfaction you are causing in my life :) I'll have to wait for it to be delivered because it hasn't worked yet! Pie x
PS its okay to publish my comments :)
Congratulations on the Kiln! Looking forward to seeing the creations that come out of it once it's delivered.
PS Sorry, I know, the last blog entry was a bit of a doozy. That's a mighty big pot is all I can say!
Hello from the brewery... Fantastic photos from Mostar, you're on home turf. Mum must be chuffed. Still doing 90km a day? What are you eating??? We're off to drool at Zac Chalmers tomorrow at Valley Plains Pottery haha. Have you managed to pick up any Macedonian language or men ;) Take care xo
All things bright I am really enjoying reading all about your travels Bernii, and seeing some of the spectacular scenery too! Can certainly understand why some parts of the trip take longer with that gorgeous spectrum of colour around you. Don't forget, even with a bit of rain, you are now in SUMMER... while winter has settled in now back home. Looks like you and Dragana having a fab time, and most importantly, enjoying yourself as face the high and low roads in Bosnia & Herzegovina. Lots of amazing new experiences unfolding -- even detecting your new fondness for technology! xx
Embracing technology Am sitting here in God knows where at a petrol station refuelling on coffee and checking emails. Well I never! Who would have thunk??
hi Bernii. Wow all those places look so much like a picture postcard. You seem like you are having a time of your life. Melbourne is getting colder and is always raining so its good that you are away and having a great time. Cheers
Nandita
Yes we do appreciate Even if it sometimes will feel like work and maybe you will think, for whom you are making all this effort, we (or at least) I really appreciate your blog. Reading your blog, for me is far more interesting than doing my job ;-). Also, I was thinking about going to this part of europe, but thanks to your travel experiences I know for sure.
Have a good trip, and be safe.
Thank you! And am so happy to hear that you'll be visiting this part of the world. Honestly, there are enough windy roads in the middle of nowhere to keep a motorcyclist happy for a long time : )
I'm on the road again. Back to the Balkans again. This time to discover some new places and reconnect with some old.
It's been 2 years since my last bike trip in the Baltics. No traversing the countryside with my brown, battered Giant. No schlepping of poor bicycle from one hemisphere to the other. Instead, a bike shall be bought there and ridden over hill and dale through Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and (Republic of) Macedonia.
No annual gym membership for me! I'm assured a thorough Balkan workout with all those mountains and a very healthy dose of history and cul... full info
