At 24yrs I feel that I haven't done much with my life & don't understand why Im expected to put all my time/ effort into making money, having a home & family, without experiencing the world around me. Therefore I have ditched my job as a nurse & am going on a brief 2 month trip to Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand & Bali, with my good friend & sole-mate Zac.
The reality is that Im being bloody selfish & doing what I want to do before I end up 30+, bitter & twisted, moaning about all the things I whish I had done/ seen/ experienced/etc.
If I get the travelling bug this might be the first of many travel bloggs!
Hope it inspires someone to drop the mundane & do something different with the time they have left!

Hi everybody!! its almost 3am here in Auckland & we have a shuttle bus to catch at 4:30 so arn't going to bed!!!!! Am a little tired we have been busy with Kelly & Adam (Zac's friends from home) the last few days. Have been to the Sky tower, Waiheke island, mission beach & the Ice bar. Hi everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still alive, but only just as zac convinced me that a bungy jump off the Auckland Bridge would be a good idear yesterday. It was not a good idear at all, not one little bit & when i get back you can watch the dvd & see how bad it actually was, i am never doing that again, well not sober!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We haven't really done much since i last wrote as both of us have been feeling a bit out of sorts. have climbed Mt Eden though, amazing views of Auckland city, you could see some of the other volcanos & the skytower & the bridge. Hay Everybody! Well we got to Auckland on Wednesday & it is cold!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of wind so even when its sunny its still freezing!!! Never mind the Hostel is really nice, very clean and in a really nice postion, out of the main drag of Auckland, but a little treck into town. We have not really explored much so far as it rained lots on thursday & we only went to the local supermarket for food. In the evening we met with Zac's friends from ipswich for a drink & are planning to meet up again when they get back into Auckland (they have gone on a tour until friday). G'day Mates!!! We have done almost everything that Sydney has to offer. On wednesday we climbed the Harbour Bridge which was fun!! Great views although a bit windy!! Coulden't take any photos ourselves but have 2 taken for us. We could see the whole of sydney harbour, the opera house & the zoo. We had a wander around the rocks (old part of sydney) & had a nice lunch. Yesterday we went to darling harbour & had a look round the aquarium which was fantastic, lots of big, scary sharks & little fishes, had a really nice meal (zac insisted on paying, so even nicer!!) & went to a Imax movie, which is a 3d picture & everything jumps out @ u, it was pretty cool!! Hi everybody (again!), In my shock @ the coldness of the weather I forgot to metion that while in Cairns we went on an old pearl lugger (large wooden boat) to the great barrier reef! We went last saturday & spent about 4hours snorkeling amongst some amazing fish, coral & built sandcastles on a sand cay (island of sand) in the middle of the reef. it was really amazing, just like taking a peak @ a compleatly different world! Had a great day although managed to burn the bottom of my back. Today we have walked around Sydney & thank god its getting warmer (has picked up to 25 degrees), although we have to walk up a massive hill to get back to the hostal which means in this heat we arrive hot & sweaty (nice) ... read more

Hi eveyone!! We have arrived in Sydney & it is freezing compaired to Cairns, yesterday it rained, hailstoned & only got up to about 16degrees c!!!!!! Today has been better though, about 21-22 degrees. We walked to the Botanical Gardens & went to the art gallery, due to Zac having no cash we are doing all the free/cheep stuff first in the hope that he gets some cash later on!!!!!!! I saw the Opara House & Harbour Bridge today & it was like looking @ a postcard, took lots of photos!! The art galllery was very good, can't belive it is compleatly free!!!!!!!! The botanical gardens (also compleatly free!!!!) were beautiful, really peacefull in the middle of such a busy city. We saw some huge friut bats hanging from the trees, apparently they are quite unusual ... read more

G'day Mates!!!!!!!!!!! Its reached 37C here!!!!!!!! Boy is it hot, have got sunburnt today as we went to Fitzroy Island. This is a coral island so the beaches are made of dead coral rather than sand. We went swimming @ the nudist beach so zac could check out all the topless women ( he was upset as there where only 3! ha, ha). We saw lots of fish & lizards and some parrotts! Zac tried to drown me & the almost drowned himself snorkling(serves him right, i had sea water go up my nose!!!!) Humm wat else have we done this week?..............Oh I remember we lobbed ourselves out of a plane at 14,000 ft, ha ha that was soooooooooooo much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi everybody!!! We're having a great time here in sunny cairns, its 29degrees C+ everyday!!!!!!!!! Time to top up the sun tan, ha ha. Have heard the UK is freezing!!!! Have been spending time lazing @ the lagoon, shopping & spent a few nights out with the fellow backpackers from the hostel. The Hostel it's self is shit, really grubby & we keep getting bitten by bed-bugs, NASTY!!!! But dispite the poor accomidation the social life is good, have met loads of people to hang around with & had some great nights eating & drinking. just whish i could say more to explain how great it is to travel, but you'll just have to do it yourselves to find out. hopefully will be able to put some pics of Hong Kong on here now so check ... read more

yeah fuckers i got my hands on this for the first time in like a week rebecca (who did sort it out) has taken over so now is my time to write and to tell u all the cool things that we have been doing! well don't know if u all know but we're not working at all, just drinking lots of beer & i've been smoking loads as its dirt cheep!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We're now in cairns, austrailia after leaving hong kong yesterday, got here at half 3ish, although we got to sydney about half nine & discovcered that it was still only 10:30 pm on tuesday in England!!!!!!!! that means we skiped ahead almost a day just crossing from Hong Kong to Australia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi everyone!!!!!!!!! Am bored @ airport with 5hrs till our flight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thought we'd get here early as backpacks too heavy to carry round with us, caught ferry & then airport train to the airport but didn't expect to ger here this bloody early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am using free internet @ the coffee shop, zac is out having a fag, am feeling a litttle lost as this airport is huge!!!!!!!!!! Am going to miss hong kong although it'll be nice to have some proper fresh air, rather than smog. It does'nt feel like a week since we left the uk, if anything it feels longer. Although the city is interesting & we did most of the attractions, our only regret is not exploring the back streets or knowing enough chinese to be able to ask questions in the non-tourist ... read more
