So I finally made it to the continent! Went to France for the first time on Saturday night. All I can say is, France would be lovely if it wasnt full of French people! Our 5-a-side footy tournament has finished and some of us decided to have a weekend away to finish off. So Ben, Jon, Tony (AUS), Trevor (IRE), Dan and I (NZ) all decided we would go on a Eurostar overnight fare to France. Paris was booked, so Lille, in the north, was to be our target. We decided that as it was only an overnighter, we wouldn’t get [View Full Entry]

What can I say. After a mega Waitangi weekend with Macka, Bronte, Eddie, Sarah and Emma on the 5/6 Feb, I then headed north to Ashbourne for Shrovetide on the Tuesday night. Shrovetide - Played in Ashbourne since the 15th century or so, is basically a no-holds barred game of rugby. No Murder, No Manslaughter, No Transportation of the ball, and keep out of private property being the only real guidelines. Played over 2 days, (Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday), it’s the “Upards” (North of the river) against the “Downards” (South of the river). Each day at 2pm, [View Full Entry]

Every year in London, on the closest Saturday to Waitangi Day, all the Kiwi’s jump on the circle line tube and do a pub crawl. As the name suggests, the circle line runs in a circle and has 27 stations along its length. The aim of the game is to arrive at Westminster at 4pm, to all strip down and do the Haka in front of Big Ben. This year, the circle line was to be not operational on Saturday the 5th Feb, so it was decided that the crawl would be the weekend before. 29th Jan 2005. Official start time [View Full Entry]

So Id booked myself onto a 4 day PP bus tour to Edinburgh for Hegemony. Sis Merrett was going to come along, but ended up having to work instead. All her flatmates came up on one of the other buses though, and 2 of them were tour leaders, so it was sweet. Didn’t matter anyway, as I was on the double decker bus, with about 50 other Kiwi’s and Aussies, so made a bunch of mates pretty quickly. 30-12-04 Early start at Paddington, then we were off on our 9 hour journey to Edinburgh. Didn’t really hit the booze on the [View Full Entry]

Well well well. My first Northern Hemisphere Christmas. And what a blast! Finished up work on the 23rd , but not until we’d had a massive session at the team Christmas lunch on the Friday before, and squeezed in the work Christmas party on the Tuesday night. Both great affairs. Shot up to Ashbourne on the morning of Xmas Eve. Practically everyone up there had been out for a bender the night before and so the lads were looking very second hand when they picked me up from the station! A bit of last minute shopping, then back to Ashbourne. Settled [View Full Entry]

What have I been up to? Been a while since an update. Had another trip up north to Ashbourne, big fun as always, full weekend with a comute to London on Monday morning. Works alright, biggest headache is the computers, but Ive been told Im going to the top of the list as this thing is super shagged. Had a great time at kiwi Johns bday party a couple of weekends ago at the blag club, followed on the Sunday night by English Alexs birthday at Underdog, complete with pirate fancy dress. Me and some workmates have discovered a couple of [View Full Entry]

OK Daylight Savings sux. Dark by 4pm does not help work morale. Plus Im entering into my 2nd cold in 3 weeks. Thats alright. Guy Fawkes tonight down Clapham Common. Supposed to be 40,000 people turn up! Rock and Roll! Few shifty coctails before the bus down there and we'll be rollicking. Started playing 5 a-side footy a couple of weeks ago. Big fun that. Bit of a run around, then down the pub for a couple of bevvies. Caught up with Cousin Andrew the other night aswell. He's been here 3 weeks so we went and had a beer before [View Full Entry]

OK Its been a while since I updated, and this is the 2nd time Ive written it. Bloody computers! Not been up to much, just go to work & then come home via either the supermarket or the pub depending on the day. Fridays are usually work drinks, theres been somebody leave every week since Ive been here so theres always drinkies going on! Saturdays are usually spent hungover or shopping/site seeing. Still not finished the war museum yet for crying out loud. My English mate Craig has decided that he’s moving to Oz in a couple of weeks, so this [View Full Entry]

Another week and weekend gone. Work was good, one of the guys Riki was leaving Friday, so there were 2 or three boozy lunches to be had over the week. Friday was the worst, 2 pints at 1pm, back to the office at 3pm, drinks at the office at 5:30pm, then straight down the pub again! Home by 1am tho, so not too bad. Eds leaving this Friday, (I must smell or something), so another week of activities hopefully. Saturday went to The Imperial War Museum with Niki, Alistair and Dave. We were a little at odds tho, they finished the [View Full Entry]

Well, its amazing how fast you can slip into the groove of things. Its gotten to the point now where it's kinda like home. You get up, go to work, come home, cook a feed, go to sleep and get up again the next day to do it all again! Was sitting in the pub the other day, (new theme there), talking with Hamish and he raised a good point. Its almost half way through the decade people. Hows that for some freaky shit? The "millenium" was just last week for crying out loud! Was cool having Hamish stay, few sleepovers, [View Full Entry]
