Just the 10 months since we were in Singapore but better late than never! I've had these photos loaded against this blog for months so I really need to put a few words around them and hit the 'publish' button. I'm struggling to remember much now but I clearly remember how hot and muggy it was - I can only imagine how hot it was for 3 month old Ailsa as at least Jo-Ann and I had sweat glands! And boy did we sweat.... We took it fairly easy as it was primarily a breaking up the flights stopover but it would be fair to say we enjoyed it a bit more than Hong Kong - whilst it was much hotter, it was a bit quieter, less frenetic and with much better air quality. We ... read more

Kia Ora! This is ridiculous - 8 months later and I finally remember to write this up! Oh well, here goes..not sure how much I'll remember now! I think we spent about a week and a half in total at my Mum & Dad's new house in Kincraig in what is now the Cairngorm National Park. Its a cracking house in a wonderful area that has come to mean a lot to me over the years since we started holidaying there as kids. The first visit was pre-Christmas for a few days and it was at this time that we were visited by my dad's sisters, Winnie and Dorothy and my cousin Alison and it was great to see all of them. Jo-Ann , Ailsa and I took a few strolls ab out the place which ... read more

Kia Ora, Time to catch up on our trip of about 5 months ago! How time flies...Ailsa is 8 months old on Tuesday! After a brief stopover in London for me to visit a software company that we're working with at the moment (Jo-Ann headed up to Edinburgh ahead of me with Ailsa), I arrived in a cold capital to a lift in warm car from my maw-in-law. We spent about 10 days with her in Currie in all with a couple of visits to my Mum & Dad up in Kincraig (next blog) and it was cool to be back - literally! We did score with the weather as although it was cold (struggled to get above freezing some days) it was clear and crisp - just the kind of winter days we both ... read more

Kia Ora and a very happy new year to all - just the 4 and a half months too late! Well, I started to add the photos for this blog in January and here we are in April and I'm finally getting round to finishing this one off. Before I get onto Hong Kong, here's our new contact details having moved house in Feb: 121 Creswick Terrace Northland Wellington 6012 New Zealand +64(0)4 475 7439 Ailsa is doing great - now on solid food with predictable effect on the nappies - less messy than before but much more powerful on the nose! So, onto the blog - we had a 4 week trip to Scotland via Hong Kong and a wee stop in Singapore on the way back and it took us a while to thaw ... read more

Kia Ora campers, Its been sometime and I thought it best to do one of these before we go off on holiday for a month. Well, hasn't life changed for us! Its been fantastic so far - Ailsa is a wee star not just because she sleeps right through the night (yay!) but when she's awake she clearly enjoys life, wants to learn and smiles a lot which is all great stuff! She turns heads when she's out and will definitely be a heartbreaker! She's certainly had her moments and the few couple of weeks were hard especially on Jo-Ann who was drained by the er, challenging(!) labour and the constant feeding. We were both totally freaked out on the 3rd day when the milk came through and the poor wee girl couldn't get on and ... read more

G'day cobbers, This almost certainly the last blog before the arrival of Galloway jnr (due 16th September!) so be prepared for less exciting blogs with photos from travels - it'll be mostly baby snaps and tales of puke, poo and lack of sleep from now on! Anyway, just a quickie on a couple of recent trips across the ditch to Aus. I work for the Bank of New Zealand, which is part of the National Australia Bank (NAB) Group so as my project required NAB involvement (don't ask it's complicated and technical), I tragically had to drag myself over there with a colleague to meet with some people there to smooth our path to project success. I had 2 days work on the Thursday & Friday and stayed with Louise & Damien Towers (some of you ... read more

Kia Ora, readers. I’m last taking a moment to knock up the final blog from our South Island trip of almost 5 months ago now! From Queenstown we headed down the road to Te Anau, the gateway to the spectacular Fiordland National Park, which is the largest national park in NZ and forms part of the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Area as designated by the United Nations. There are 15 fiords in the park and we were there for a day trip to the most famous and the most northerly of them - Milford Sound, New Zealand’s most visited tourist attraction. Te Anau is a smallish town that straggles along the shores of its eponymous lake and we found a smashing looking caravan park to plonk Buzz in but we later discovered it could do ... read more

Howdy all.....I’ll pick where I left of which was leaving Wanaka-ka-ka in Buzz and heading Queenstown, NZ’s adventure capital. Queenstown sits on the shores of the majestic lightning bolt shaped Lake Wakatipu in Central Otago and is about a 50 minute drive from Wanaka if you take the hilly but direct route through the Cardona Valley like we did. After parking up at the Creeksyde Top 10 Holiday Park (apparently the world’s first Green Globe environmentally certified holiday park!), we took the gondola up to Bob’s Peak where we enjoyed the classic postcard views over the town, The Remarkables mountain range and across Lake Wakatipu. The Remarkables featured quite regularly as a backdrop in the Lord of The Rings films and they are one of only two ranges on the planet that run directly north ... read more

Kia Ora, campers!! I'm continuing my trend of blogging approximately 3 months after the event. Indeed I'm heading towards 4 months with this one. We took just over a week off work at the end of February to do our long-awaited campervan tour of the lower South Island which we’ve been dying to do since we mover here in March 2005 - yes, it was over 2 years ago. The last time we toured the South island was on our honeymoon in 2004 and this time we were determined to learn the lessons from that trip - in the main, take your time and don’t try to cram too much in to too short a timeframe. We also decided to try the campervan as it was going to work out cheaper overall than paying for ... read more

Now where were we..? Oh, yes...t'was the day after the Sevens and the boys were on a road trip or should I say a river trip. We were heading up north to canoe down the Whanganui River. After rehydrating and generally getting in shapes for the journey, we stocked up on supplies and began the 5 hour drive. I took McLellan (aka Radar as per last blog) in our Golf and Morrison (aka Padre) and Johnston (Klinger) hooned it up the road in the Padre's Audi - German cars to the fore and we were in the urban sprawl of National Park in no time. NP is actually more of a small gathering of hotels/hostels, bars and a few houses about a half hour drive from the Whakapapa ski fields on the north eastern slopes ... read more
