I am Amazing Aimee (25) travelling with my boyfriend, Stephen Henaghan (30).
I will be beginning my travels on June 02nd 2008 and some of the countries I will be visiting include:
Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
I'll be using the blog to keep in touch with people and let everyone know what I've been up to.
Hopefully I wont get too serious and will keep my updates fun and light-hearted.
As most of you know, living away from home is nothing new for me. I started repping overseas for Thomson Holidays in 2001.
I have worked in the Balearics (Majorca, Ibiza, Menorca), Mainland Spain (Costa Dorada, Costa Blanca), France (Flaine), the Canaries (Fuerteventura, Tenerife), and Austria (Ellmau).
This is the perfect time for me to go travelling before I settle down. Where? Who knows???
We're ready for our chilled out 4weeks in Laos and hoping there's enough to do there. All we have heard is positive things so we're a little excited to say the least. Starting off with the lovely 24hr journey from Hanoi (Vietnam) to our first stop Vientiane..... Sunday 1st March Pinch and a punch first of the month! Not looking forward to the long overnight journey to Vientiane but really excited about Laos. So we had to kill time today so we packed checked out and headed to the long dreamed about pasta buffet which we had seen on our arrival day and thought we would save it for today and SUPPRISE! Closed sunday bummer really needed to stuff my self silly after lack of food these past few days. So sulking we grabbed something from

Monday 16th February Arrived in Hoi an tired and groggy after an overnight bus journey from Nha Trang. The driver seem to not understand the speed limit and on a few occasions that I managed to nod off I was woken by being thrown forward in my seat after taking flight over the many bumps in the road. It was probably entertaining to watch as my seat was actualy broken so I was left with the desicion of sleeping in an upright position or being flung forward every 5min treating my fellow passengers to a deer trapped in headlights expression oh spoilt for choice! We finally arrived in one

Tuesday 3rd February Another border crossing "oh what to expect" so we stocked up on reserves because the five hour journey could mean anything and headed of to catch our 8am bus to HCMC (ho chi minh city) also known as Saigon to most. The journey itself went ok but the local english speaking guide was another story. For a start his english language consisted of "hallo" and he keep disappering giving us no info on what we where suppose to be doing at the border. They began by taking our passports off us then calling us through as they were being stamped but there were lots of buses coming

Tuesday 20th January Up 4am to get a taxi to the train station. 80Bht for the taxi which is pretty good for that time in the morning. He did try and get 150Bht out of us - dream on dreamer is all I have to say! Getting there early to make sure we can get tickets as we were advised it can get very busy. 48Bht (96p) for a six hour journey. Slightly annoying as train was NOT busy but it actually set off on time which is very unusual for transport in Asia. Read most of the way as there wasn't really much to see. The train got busier a little later with school

So we headed straight for coffee and a look at where the hell we where as there is so many different bus stops we could be at. Unfortunately none of the locals wanted to help as they're not getting any money for it basically. We finaly work out we're in the "southern bus terminal" and we need a bus into town so here's how it goes. Wednesday 7th january 5am and i'm on a high from my caffeine intake and Steve's all serious trying to find where the hell we are (at least one of us can handle our caffeine) We finally

Read ahead and you decide but my advice would be to DIY if you're on a tight budget. Good luck. Monday 5th Jan Did not want to get up this morning but managed to drag myself and my rucksack to the main road to get a sawngthaew. No problem as they come up and down this street every five minutes. Suprise suprise, this morning there was none to be found! A Taxi driver "very kindly" offered his services at 200Bht each and informed us we would pay 150Bht each in a sawngthaew. Us being smarter than him clearly decided to wait it out and luckily one did show and at 60Bht each he was way off

Before this we will be spending three days in Phuket which probably wont be long enough so it will be just a taster before coming back later in the trip. Wednesday 17th december Off to Thailland today on the 4:30am mini bus which picked us up outside our hostel in Kuala Lumpa as we really couldn't be bothered to shop around if we we're having to leave at this time. We originally thought the journey would take approximately 7hrs but we were completely off the mark with the estimated time of 16hrs arrrrrrrrrrr!! The journey went fine and we actually arrived in Phuket 2hrs early which was very much appreciated as completely unexpected due to the hanging around in Hat

We headed to the city centre to check out the Petronas Towers which used to be the tallest buildings in the world untill 2004 when Taipei 101 (floors that is) in Taiwan was built and took the title. We did want to have a wander to the top (88 floors) but you can only pay to go not even half way up to the walk way joining the 2 towers and you have to be there at the crack of dawn to get a ticket. We took some cool photos from outside though and and had a wander through the shopping mall thats under the 2 towers, very posh I might add. I used the toilets on the posh floor 2rm (30p) and you got scented tissue

I forgot my journal so had to use Steve's and it's got really big words in it that I didn't understand but we managed in the end so you may notice some similarities between our blogs. Tuesday 09th December Arrived Singapore airport absolutely shattered. Not sure if it had anything to do with the amount of alcohol we consumed on the flight! The travelling doesn't end there - we need to get into town but I must say it was very easily done. We caught the Sky-Train (a bit like a monorail) to the tube station which got us into town. We then made our way to the Hostel which we've pre-booked. It's in the "Little India" area. It was quite late so quite hard

The only word I can use to sum it up would be "advertisements!" Bit gutting really. Didn't even get to see Santa. Getting to the airport went smoothly but the bus was packed and drove past a lot of people waiting to get to the airport, so pretty glad we planned ahead and gave ourselves plenty of spare time. The flight itself went very quickly but after all our South America bus journeys I don't think we'll ever feel like a flight takes a long time! So there we were, landing in Sydney: Monday 01st December We'd already booked accommodation last night and so we had a free airport
