If you are wondering what happened to Alex and Danīs travels due to the lack or rather non-existence of their blog, then wonder no further. Travels were recently resumed, adventures have been had, sights have been seen and tales are once again ready to be told. Today is a good day for stories, it's cloudy and wet, and there is no surf so Alex and I are having an early lunch with lots of booze, well because what else is there to do on days like these? We are in Ecuador by the way, Montanita. It is a village known worldwide [View Full Entry]

Hi Guys, Things have changed dramatically since our last blog (Australia) and we are now back in South Africa. But that’s now and I still have to report on the last few months of travel spent in Chile and Argentina…………………. We arrived in Chile on the 12 Feb and our first impression of Santiago was one of awe, it was so exciting to be in a city so different to Sydney and different to what we both know. The people also made a great first impression, the staff at the hostel were super friendly and within minutes we had befriended a [View Full Entry]

We have arrived in Santiago, Chile and it is just as scary and amazing and exciting as we expected it to be. It is absolutely massive too, we took a trip up in the cable car for a view of the city and neither of us expected what we saw when we got to the top. In all directions the city reaches as far as the eye can see and it is completely built up in a sprawling mass of habitation. Itīs like nothing we have ever seen before but I suppose thatīs the point of travelling. Australia was really good [View Full Entry]

These are some of my good mates from back home. This was not posed at all, it was completely spur of the moment...or maybe too much sugar in the icecream.
The thing about this Travel blog of ours is it has the uncanny ability of becoming outdated! I think the last blog recording was when we were at my Aunt Franya's house in Mozambique, damn time flies when you're having fun! We are now with my mom, Linda, and stepfather, Peter, in the Eastern Cape in a small seaside village called Port Alfred which is also where my family and I lived when I was about 4 and since then we always come here for our holidays. For those who don't know the Eastern Cape, it is a province in South [View Full Entry]

Marremau

 Africa » Mozambique
We have arrived in Marremau a small village on the banks of the Zambezi River in Mozambique and is considered by most to be the arse end of Africa. Franya and Tom, Dan’s aunt & uncle live here. Dan’s uncle is the Head of the Transport Department for the Sugar Cane Factory here, as such is given a massive house to live in and there’s even electricity which is a treat!! We travelled down from Ilha de Mozambique which is an island linked to the mainland by a 3.5km bridge. Ilha felt like an absolute ghost town with crumbling colonial Portuguese [View Full Entry]

Hey, Arrived in Mozambique on Monday off the ferry from Malawi. After three days of travelling on the back of trucks and in crammed minibuses with chickens and goats etc. we have arrived in Nampula a bustling third world town. We are finding it very hard to communicate with the locals as we donīt speak Portuguese! From here we are heading to Ilha de Mozambique which is an island off the coast and then going to Bazuruto Archiepalgo for some beach chilling paradisical time. The people seem just as great as the Malawians but a lot prouder and a little richer [View Full Entry]

Malawi

Africa » Malawi » Lake Malawi
Hey guys We arrived safely in Tanzania and got straight on a train to Mbeya which was the first leg of our journey to Malawi. The train journey took awhile but was a great introduction to Africa. Several bus journeys later we arrived in Malawi in time for the Lake of Stars festival which was awesome. The last week or so we have been hanging out on the Lake shore doing a few hikes and lots of swimming and snorkelling. Today we are moving on to Mozambique - the ferry leaves tonight. Internet access is quite slow and expensive in Malawi [View Full Entry]
