You are amazing Dear Alex,
I have read all your blogs and am continually amazed at the great work you are doing in the world. I am so grateful you are a part of my life and I can say, "I knew you when..." To say I am proud of you is an understatement. Truly amazing work that will carry on for generations. Keep shaking those hips and cannot wait to give you a hug when you return. Joan
Orphanage Hi!
I'm really interested in going to Dar es salaam working at an orphanage as a volunteer so I was wondering if you could tell me what orphanage you were visiting and if you know any other orphanages around that area. I would be really happy if you would reply. feel free to write it in an e-mail if you like.

Your Cape Town experience It must have been one to remember.Glad you've enjoyed it.Good pictures but I think you've got the spelling of Langa (not Linga) wrong.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Yours through education.
2nd wife - not too shabby!?! I'm looking forward to throwing you an engagement party :) That's not considered too tacky if your husband to be is already married ... is it?
Erm... congratulations on your engagement? LOL A range rover though, wow, lucky girl :). Sounds like the week was a huge success and the skyping is amazing. Awesome.
Oh, yay, you're back in Africa, if only for a short time! How I envy you :). Your conversation about the shoes (trade her something for them at the end of the week, and buy a cheap pair to wear home, that's my vote), and about adopting a black baby (some conversations are just crazy on so many levels, I used to wonder at how my head didn't explode) make me so "homesick" I can barely stand it! And awww, you're carrying Augustino's picture! *hugs* That's heartbreakingly killer, but wonderful and lovely at the same time. I can't wait to read more - so thrilled you're blogging about it. Take good care of yourself and soak in every second :). Also, love love love the pictures. Holy scenery!
greatings from Monkeyland, South Africa I am busy updating or rather revamping our websites and the new sites will go live month-end. I wondered, your lemur photograph looks nice - could you perhaps email us some of the snaps you took during your visit because we'd love to add them to the new site.
All the best,
Lara x
What treasures! How sweet it is! Hopefully you can stay connected with this group of people and the children. Also, Alex that was a wonderful thing to do and it made you and them so much richer. I KNOW you 'll go back there again one day and hopefully reconnect .
More when I see you (soon)! Have a safe trip home! Love from us all here in Costa Rica.

I thought your post about leaving the children was really beautiful, and I admire what you've been doing there. My blog is looking for travel reviews, social commentaries, etc, to share. If there's anything that fellow travelers can do to help out in that area, either with the animals or the children, we'd be happy to post some info about it. If you have the time, check out the blog at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email us at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com. Good luck with your endeavors!

Dar Hey, I'm a South African chef, moving to Dar with my girlfriend who is a pilot, I'm so excited but crapping myself at the same time, not going to know anyone or anything. We're going to be staying in Oyster Bay. Is it advisable to have a car or does traffic allow for a motorbike? What are car prices like there and would you advise walking around the streets, cause I can't even walk around my own area in South Africa at night. What major challenges should I be ready for in Dar? Your help is much apperciated.
Thanks Brevis
When I graduated from University in December 2004, with my Master's and Bachelor's Degree, I decided that I wasn't ready to settle into a lifetime job in the U.S.A. Instead, I went to an International School Job Fair, and am now traveling the world, one International School at a time! I speak English, French, and Dutch, have learned Italian while living in Switzerland, and can't wait to pick up more languages along the way. I teach Upper Elementary Grades, and love working with children. I'm using this site as a way to stay connected with friends and family both from home, and that I've m... full info
