sheep and bears? Wow! That is so cool to eat lunch with big horn sheep. Not too many people can say that! We went to the State Fair yesterday and met up with Aunt Glenda. She was our tour guide for the afternoon. Had the problem with the Highlander again on the way to Columbia, so I brought it to the dealership and after about a two hour wait they finally gave me a car to drive to Sedalia. We're not sure when we wil get our car back, but I sure hope they get it fixed this time!!!
The mountain goats Alex wants to know if you petted the mountain sheep.
Love the pic of the elk. Nice rack.
EJ was trying to give you a call. Told him you may not have cell service.
Breathtaking views OK, so where do wild animals just stroll around the city streets. In Alaska.
Breathtaking views of Lake Maligne. If I were only a painter.
Not sure where you are now, maybe back in the US. Keep me posted.
Brad
Yes, I'm watching your blog!! I'm more of an email person and less of a public response gal, which is why I LOOK at Facebook, but don't post on it. I enjoy seeing your pics!!
Jacuzzi That jacuzzi looks good. We had a few really nice pools to try out on our vacay, including the outdoor one at the Ahwahnee Hotel right at the base of the Yosemite bluff. It was surrounded by huge pines to give us shade too.
Were there any goats or anything walking on those sod roofs?
Cute puppies and cool whale bones We saw a representation of a whale skeleton when we went up to Point Loma in San Diego. No whale sightings, but we did see dolphins when we went sailing in the Bay. Chase was our captain. I was lookout.
Sod-roofed cabins The sod is amazing insulation. The Vikings' dwellings with sod roofs were very warm and dry, the ones we experienced in Newfoundland at the reenactment site; and we were there on wet and bone-chilling days.
Great Bear Pics!! Alex and Piper just looked at the bear pics with me. Loved them! The kids were surprised you were so close. Alex thought all the signs about what not to do around bears included not getting too close taking pictures.
Awesome! Those are some great close ups of bears! When we were in Colorado, my dad and I went on a backpacking trip up Ptarmigan Lake Trail, but it didn't go so well. When we got there, it was all nice and sunny and warm. But about an hour into the trail, it started to cloud up, cool off, and start raining. Luckily, we had rain gear, but we were still very wet. Once we got to our campsite, the rain stopped just long enough for us to set up our tent. As soon as we got our tent set up, it started raining all over again. We couldn't get outside and get our stove lit, so we had trail mix for supper. It didn't appear to be letting up, so we bear-bagged our food and climbed in our sleeping bags for the night. When we got up (notice I say got up, not wake up, as we slept very little in the night), it wasn't raining quite as hard, so we went ahead and got our food down and started our stove up and cooked our appetizer-sized breakfast and split it. Then we broke camp, still in the rain, and began hiking down. Once we finally got back to my Aunt Sandi's cabin, we still had to set up our tent and tarps and ponchos and everything else in our packs out to dry. When we were all done, we figured out that it had rained 16.5 out of the 18.5 hours we were out there. It was quite a trip!
We were just laughing about him cleaning bugs off of the RV this weekend. David just laughed and said that his dad would be appalled at the bugs on the front of his rig! We also joke about several other things, now that we are official RVers!
I want you to know that our vehicles look like that most months of the year! We drive on a washboard road daily, here in the sticks. Seriously, washing my van is hardly worth it. :)
Rough country and gooooooo Carolyn! Apparently those roads aren't REALLY made for RVs! But what is a few flat tires among so many campers! C, keep hauling! Love,
Barbara
