I have now decided that the coast of California is beautiful. We have taken the coast road (the #1 and the 101) from where it starts at the Oregon/Washington border, down to where it ends in Los Angeles. We've experienced windy roads, tight turns, and slow speeds, but it's been great views the whole way down. Our last night on the beach we camped in Morro Bay, and our site was literally next to the ocean. We even pulled out lawn chairs and took our dinner down to the beach to watch the sunset. I would recommend everyone do that at one point in their lives. Well, it's one week into the trip, and what a week it has been. We are currently staying in a hotel just north of San Francisco, and it's nice and sunny. We travelled down to Spokane the first night, with no problems at the border. That was mostly a driving day, with day 2 including a stop at Dry Falls Washington, which was amazing. We did a small hike up on the rocks and enjoyed lunch with the birds. We made it to the Oregon Coast the next day, with the weather being very cool and rainy. One thing I have noticed about American signs: appently you are not allowed to use compression brakes. My question is, is that that the same as engine retarder brakes that we have in Canada? Since I'm going to be away for pretty much the rest of the year, I thought I'd start a blog to let people know how I'm getting on. So, in 2 days Liam and I leave for 5 weeks in the USA. This trip will include a 10 day backpacking trip, hiking mountains, swimming in the ocean, Disneyland, and hopefully not getting sunburned or lost in LA. I have one more exam to write, and then the biggest job I'll have is moving my pile of stuff that I need to pack from the floor into a bag. Wish me luck with that.
