Day 2 Rise and shine! Our body clocks are officially off with the time change. At 4:30 a.m. our eyes pop open thinking that is should be 2 p.m. We watch t.v. until 6 a.m. when the executive lounge opens for coffee and breakfast. The food here is proving to be very good. After breakfast we take showers and ready ourselves for the day. The guide books recommend getting an early start to avoid the crowds. Our plan is to head to the Acropolis on the top of the hill. Getting an early start will also prevent hiking up the hill in the 80 degree mid-afternoon heat. We take the hotel shuttle to downtown and get dropped off a few blocks away for the Acropolis. At the base of the Acropolis we purchase our entry ticket ... read more

Day 1 We have begun a new adventure! An early morning (4:30 a.m.) has found me meeting with Warren in Bangor, Maine. I meet Jack, Warren's chief pilot, at his house in Simi Valley to carpool to Santa Monica airport for the first leg of the trip to Athens, Greece. Warren has flown commercial to Bangor, Maine a day ahead of time to rest up for today's flight (8hrs. 50mins.) to Greece. I arrive in Bangor in 5hrs. It was an uneventful flight on the Gulfstream IV, which is a good thing. When flights are eventful that usually means something is terribly wrong. In Bangor, Warren and Brian (the co-pilot) hop aboard and switch command with the previous crew. Warren is looking very Johnny Cash in his all black uniform and emerging go-tee. The flight from ... read more

Day 14 Since Warren's boss' have change their departure day they have invited me to ride in the jet on the way home. It is a long flight of 13 hours and everyone is glad to be home. In the plane we all discuss what we miss from home and what our next meal will be. Everyone agrees that they will not be eating red meat for the next month. So. America is very heavy on the red meat. Everyone also misses their own beds. I am sure that Warren and I will be spending the weekend running errands and doing lots of laundry. This was an awesome trip that we will never forget. Thank you for following our travels!... read more

Day 13 We rise early head to airport and we're off to Iguazu Falls on New Year's Eve day. The flight is about 2hours. As we approach the airport, Warren and Brian receive clearance to do a fly over the falls. Who needs a helicopter tour when you can fly over the falls in a private jet (Spoiled!). Upon landing, our handlers, the people that help us when we fly into these places, are ready to usher us to the Sheraton and have pre-arranged a tour of the falls for us. As we approach the front desk to check in, we can already begin to enjoy the beautiful views. The back drop of the front desk is an entire glass wall overlooking the tropical falls. We drop our bags in our room, grab a bite to ... read more

Day 12 The breakfast at the hotel leaves a lot to be desired, unless you like egg soup. For some reason, everywhere we have been does not thoroughly cook their eggs. Weird. This day will be our last day in B.A. We are overwhelmed by the city and are not sure what to go see. One of the places recommended, by multiple sources, is Florida street. We have heard that is was a unique street filled with boutiques and locals practicing their tango next to a boom box. We checked the map and found that it was walking distance from our hotel so we decide to check it out. The walk is not far but the heat and humidity make it seem like a trek. We arrive at Florida street to find that it is a ... read more

Day 11 This day is another lounge day. We spent the morning watching t.v. in bed and updating our blog with pics and videos. For lunch we walked across the nearby bridge over the old port waterway near our hotel. During the walk over the bridge it began to sprinkle and we quickened our steps. The bridge is called "Woman Bridge". The name is fitting because all of the streets in B.A. are named for women. The restaurant we chose was very tasty! As we ate our lunch the sprinkles turned to rain. Under the front entryway of the restaurant we waited for the rain to slow. We found our moment and began rapidly walking towards the hotel. All of a sudden, the sky reopened and began dumping water. Luckily, the air is warm and the ... read more

Day 10 Today is a travel day. We are leaving Punta Arenas, Chile for Buenos Aires, Argentina. A very uneventful day. We meet Brian for breakfast, gather our bags and head to the airport. The flight is about three hours long and we watched "Evita" in the back of the airplane while Warren and Brian navigate our way to our new location. Warren's boss' thought this would be a good way to update their kids on some of the history of Argentina. "Evita" is an odd movie that is completed through song. There is no dialogue. I am not sure how historically accurate the movie is but it is entertaining and fills the flight time. Upon arriving, we exit the plane to discover that the weather is much warmer and more humid. It is a refreshing ... read more

Day 9 Today we met at the tour company at 6:50 A.M. to begin our penguin excursion trip. I made sure to take motion sickness pills prior to leaving the hotel. We will be travelling on a bus as well as a boat. The bus took us 30 minutes to a small boat ramp. There were approximately 30 people packed like sardines onto a small boat with a friendly crew. The conditions on the water were very choppy and I am thankful for remembering to take the motion sickness pills. On the way to the island the boat begins to lull me to sleep. I leaned back on Warren and rested my head on his arm. He makes a comfortable pillow and I doze off. I awake to Warren laughing as well as the couple across ... read more

Day 8 There is not much to blog about on this day. Upon waking I discovered that I do not fell so well. We lay in bed until noon before showering and heading across the street to the center square. There are two cruise ships into town and they are also frequenting the center square to shop among the local merchants. The local merchants are selling jewelry, keychains, and hand made wool items from little carts resembling mini stagecoaches. There is a local man painting a picture from an early1900's photo under a tree in the square. We stopped by and admired his work as he mixed colors to stroke on the canvas. We attempted to visit the southernmost beer brewery in the world but were disappointed when we arrived and found it closed. We rode ... read more

Day 7 Although the location implies that we are in El Calafate, we will end up in Punta Arenas today via Ushuaia. We left El Calafate today, our favorite place so far, for Punta Arenas. On our way to Punta Arena we stopped in Ushuaia. Ushuaia is the southern most city in the world. The weather was quickly moving into Ushuaia so it was wise to keep our visit short if we wanted to make it to our next destination. It was not as cold as one might expect, although it was very windy. We had just enough time to snap some photos at the airport and then hop back on board. But how many people can say they have been to the southern most city in the world on Christmas of all days? When we ... read more
