thank you Allison and Jeff,
It's Mickey Bakst the GM at the Charleston Grill and on behalf of all of us here, thanks so much for enjoying what we love to do!
gators vs tree Sunning gator? Are you kidding me? I'd be looking for a professional gator wrestler in my tour group about now and wishing I was "packin". Tell me you zoomed in on the sunning gator and zoomed 100x for the close up! The only respite is the 1000 year old tree. What an amazing photo. It gives a whole new meaning to a "picture is worth 1,000 words" because this one pretty much leaves me speechless.
Gullah Looking forward to hearing more details about the Gullah tour. I've used resources from "Aunt Pearlie Sue" in my classroom by going to www.knowitall.org/gullahmusic. Check it out and tell me if her stories correlate to the stories told on your gullah tour. The hotel rooftop lounge is all about what I would want on vacation...coffee with a view. Is that a Marriott? Well, it's fun to follow your trip even though I'm like 3 days behind.
Swamp Tour?? How charming, a tour of the local swamp. Seriously, it sounds like you're having a great time. I'm envious of all the food experiences (I don't know why it is, but my longest lasting memories of any vacation is the food) and of the fact that you can do anything at 10:00 at night. When we travel, it's dinner and then I have to take Stef straight home and put her to bed. She even passed on a planned post-prandial taxi tour of Paris to see "The City of Lights" after dark (I may have to leave her home next time). I'm vicariously enjoying your trip.
Weird Deliveries Must be the wrong house - we're Hershey people. Seriously, glad you guys are keeping tabs on us. We'll trade trip stories when we get bacl
cookies how long does/did it take to bake that many cookies? can you imagine--they must have an automated system for 'spooning' them out onto trays? sounds like a great trip--it's a city I've wanted to visit. thanks for the blog!
Explaination of the weird deliveries in Sykesville Jeff / Allison,
Sounds like you're having a blast. Charleston is such a cool place. Don't forget the beach!!!!
Anyway, Thank God I read your Tuesday entry because I couldn't understand why this morning (Wed am) there was a Nestle's Truck out front of your house delivering what appeared to be numerous yellow bags of something. Also, this probably explains the 100 or so chickens out in your backyard. "Whew" - I thought Ms. Chris was about to perform so weird vodoo thing.
Anyway, can't wait to see you guys back in town and definitely looking forward to some "chicken on the barbie".
The Weavers
Smithfield Sorry, Smithfield North Carolina is not the Ham Smithfield, that's in Virginia. As recently as the late 60's there was a huge billboard on I-95 with a hooded klansman on a rampant horse saying "Welcome to Smithfield, Heart of Klan Country." Stef's good friend Jan lives in Smithfield.
Keep on trucking
Just thinking of what Allison could have said to the kid, is making my ears melt! (Just kidding)
Hope you have a ggod time, and be careful. More pictures.
Where are the Pictures!! PIctures. I want pictures! Hi. Thanks for the blog!. Glad you had a safe trip. It's been unbearably hot here. Stay cool if you can.
Washington Traffic Yea, it's a b---h getting through the District. I've tried every concievable way, and if it's not traffic on the Beltway it's traffic on 95 or 295 or 66 or 29, pick one.
Hope things get better.
Food in Charleston Stanley G - thanks for the suggestion - Jestine's was already on our list and we are looking forward to it! We'll be sure to write about our meal.

One word of advice: When you get to the tunnels in the Blue Ridge Mountains, remember to take off your sunglasses before you go in. (I didn't and was nearly hit by a logging truck because I couldn't figure out why I couldn't see. LOL)
Have FUN>>>>>>>
