So i am sat about 500m from a strip of pristine coastline, surrounded by palm trees and coconuts (apologises if you are reading this sat in the office!)– this is south india and i love it possibly more than the north. Here i have been rejoicing at the fact i can walk around for at least half and hour and sometimes no one talks to me. Yes i still seem to have ended up with 3 dinner date options already for tonight but the people are friendly and laid back and its the kind of place where the first man i saw yesterday morning nodded to me and then asked ‘grass?’ in a friendly way – it was 9am in the morning! The pace of life is slower, you can cross the road in under 5 ... read more

hello!!! Well its been a little longer this time, since i last was on a blog! I'm not quite sure where the last 18 months have gone but the road is calling once more so i have a week to try and condense my life once more into a even smaller rucksack before i set off to a life of curry for 3 meals a day and probably to have my concept of personal space challenged every minute. Looking at my last blogs i seem to get less prepared with each trip. Last time i had a return ticket, a guide book and 7 months to fill, this time i have a one way ticket, a vague plan of a few places i want to see and no idea of when i will be back! Whatever ... read more

Hmmm so i was in ecuador last blog - that was a long time ago!! We're now in buenos aires and its so cold i am typing this in gloves, 3 pairs of socks and a scarf! It is freezing!!! for once a return to england will actaully be warmer! Anyway so we made it out of ecuador with amazingly no problems and hit the coast of peru for some final sunshine (and Aaron to remind himself he can't surf!). I was rejoicing we were in the country of old stuff and yes dad we did do the cultural thing of going to look at some old rocks and stones in the ground! However we are probably the only tourists in south america who were 40km from Machu pichu and rode straight past it! anyway we ... read more

So i hope your impressed its only been about 2 weeks since the last blog and we´ve made it to equador!! Obviously not without the usual adventures but more of that to follow! Having spent a few days doing a bar crawl around bogata (well it means you see the city!) including having some local fermented maize drink which i still wonder if they aim to make it that bad, we decided to leave and head south. Obviously being the disorganised people that we are this did not happen early and then we spent 2 hours trying to find the right road out of bogata (1 vague tourist map and the lonely planet - who needs GPS!!!) Road successfully found we head off to zona cafe in the such of some good coffee. Obviously by now ... read more

Whoops over a month since the last blog - how rubbish am i!!!!! As a result this may take a while (skip to the end now!!!) So we got the boat down the amazon and spent 2 days sat in our hammocks (am now excellant hammock sleeper) squeezed between 2 old people (and half the population of brazil) trying desperately hard not to break any hips as we swung not in time with the rest of the boat in every direction possible. Once on the river we did actually find small pieces of the once amazon rainforest. I forgot to mention this is in the last blog but the amazon rainforest does not exist any longer! We drove about 2 thirds of the way into it and its all full of farmland - not a patch ... read more

So where to start, again its been a while - apologises. We are currently on the banks of the amazon after what has to be our silliest idea yet but more of that to come! We decided to bomb it up to the north coast of brazil and put in a few epic days needing to recover for about a week on the caost as a result. Daisy i now over 21 (and only just 3 months old) which is the equivalent to driving half way around the world on the equator! The last few weeks we have been so far off the tourist route that we seem to have ended up being the tourist attraction. Literally anywhere we stop to get pétrol, fix things on daisy or just have a bum break we end up surrounded ... read more

So thank you for the moans of lack of contact and yes i am that rubbish!! But ive been busy!!! In my last blog i think daisy had just turned 5! Well that was a month ago and now she is 14!!! Yes in the last month we have driven 9000 km. Now my plan was to impress you all with researched facts like that is the distance from london to moscow but i forgot!! However my arse can assure you its a very long way!!!! So what has happened. Well the day after i last was on the net we went on that vineyard tour!!! Hmm never a good idea!! We started at about 1pm in the blazing heat on rubbish hire bikes that got as far as maybe 2km before aarons seat broke and ... read more

So this may be a long one - apologises!! Firstly lets get one thing straight. I have had a few comments about me cruising around south america on the back of a motorbike. I would like to point out I don´t only sit on the back!! I do occassionally drive! Daisy turned 5 the other day and out of those 5000km I have probably driven about 500km (even share I think!). I can only really drive the stright tarmaced bits with no traffic and minimal bends so this means aaron drives all the dirt, bendy, busy and scary bits which generally means most of it!!! He doesn´t seem to mind though as apparently sitting on the back whilst your driven around by a slightly dodgy girl driver does nothing for your masculine image!!! Since last time ... read more

Happy new year!!! Apologises for not getting in touch sooner but unlike what a lot of people think this travelling melarky is very busy!!! Anyway I hope you all had a brilliant xmas and a very good new year and welcome to 2009!!! We´ve now made it all the way down to the very south of argentina and the ´end of the road´ as the argentinian tourist board likes to put it. I debated jumping on a boat to antartica but sadly the cheap boat broke the week before (wonder why it was cheap??) and 5 star luxury travel was out of the budget. Anyway made do with some hiking instead in some stunning mountains and then decided to jump on the road again. Unfortunately lack of forward (or infact any) planning meant all the buses ... read more

Hola Wohoo! Back to the world of blogging! So what can I tell you. After the joyous nature of our 26 hour plane journey to buenos aires we didn´t really see that much of buenos aires. Made it to the coolest cemetary the world has ever seen (yes I know me and graveyards never mix but this one is very cool!) and attempted to find some good steak (I had a mouthfull - but still not back to the world of the carnivous I´, afraid pops!) - (kay talc still wins!) but we weren´t really in the mood for huge cities so what do most normal people do when they´ve just got off the worlds longest plane journey - yep we booked ourselves on the first 14 hour bus ride out!! Argentinian buses are amazing! National ... read more
