Looking for a Family Reunion Location My family and I lived in N.O. until 1977 when I graduated HS joined the Army, My brothers joined the Navy a year later, Sisters married and moved to Kentucky. Dad died and Mom moved to Ohio. After 30 years in the Army and only returning to LA once or twice; we all find the urge to do or next reunion in Cajun country. Needless to say we just don’t have the contacts or family in the area anymore to organize this so it falls upon me way out in Colorado. Of the six kids we all are married and have families and some even had grandkids. Four boys all had military careers and the two girls married and moved away. We will travel in from Arizona, Colorado, North Carolina, Connecticut, Mississippi and Kentucky six kids all living in different states. In 2008 we went to the TN Smokey Mountains and it was great. I would like to plan in the summer of 2011 for us all to come together again in your area if you have any suggestions.
I would like to rent space for six families (maybe six bed and breakfast or six cabins, or house boats, or something with a certain level of our space. I will need some swamp tour options, prefer to do it when a festival is taking place (still love the food). I am in the planning stage so any ideas, links or suggestions would be a great resource. Thanks George Stapleton Sergeant Major U.S. Army (Retired)
You're on you way! Lynne & George, So you're on your way. How is the weather? Hope the roads are okay and the temperature isn't too cold. Where are you headed? Sauder village looks like a very interesting place. Sort of reminds me of Henry Ford's Greenfield Village. Is that place still in existance? I used to beg mom and dad to take me there at least once a year in June to watch the muzzle-loaders festival. It was great fun too with candle making, blacksmithing, spinning - much like Sauder village. I enjoy your blogs so much. Enjoy your trip!
Psyche! You had me puzzles for a moment.....thought wow where are they????
Oops,..........it's Ohio......delated entry. I get it.
Darn, I was looking forward to more outstanding writing in your informative blogs.
Very enjoyable, however, and I'd like to travel to the Village.
See you at breakfast...when is it?
Judy
Thanks for sharing this info I would not expect to find this kind of thing going on in a rest area, thanks for the warning!
We visited Kentucky ages ago and had a great time at all the historical sites. Maybe now that Mikes retired we'll travel again.
Enjoy your trip, I'll be looking for pictures.
Very Interesting Trip Really enjoyed your article and especially liked the photos of Enchanted Rock. It brought back memories of the time when I visited the Fredericksburg area and stayed at the Full Moon Inn near Luckebach where I had way too much fun. Thanks for the memories.
Tombstone We had a great time in Tombstone while we were in Tucson. Bisbee was interesting, but Tubac was a very creatrive place. We also went to the desert museum, the Xan Xavier del bac the Titan Missile site and the Pima Air and Space museum. We are now in Lake Havasu and took a side trip to Oatman via old route 66 with a friend who lives here, also took in the Laughlin casinos. We hope the snow is out of Flagstaff by Wednesday. No desire to go up in the mountains with snow on the ground. Brrrr
looking forward to the visit Thanks for the heads up on the cavern. We will be staying in that area on the way to Tucson and will be visiting the cavern in April.
Love your blogs! Hi Lynn and George,
I'm enjoying your blogs and seeing many pictures of places Joyce and I were at in 1996. We didn't get to Big Bend, however, because when we were there they would not allow dogs in the park. Guess that has changed (for the better). They told us it was because there were so many mountain lions roaming....and were dogs were great appetizers. So it is nice to see the pictures. When I took the first blog up to Joyce she just grinned from ear to ear. She gets such a kick out me reading them to her and showing her the pictures. A little less bordom in her life! Glad you are having a good time but it sounds a bit cool although I suppose not unseasonable for this time of year. Take care and give the "kids" a hug for us. Sharron
Yea! You're blogging again !!!
We just returned from a 20 day stay in Belleair Beach FL.
Met an R Ving couple and informed them of TRAVELBLOG. They're seasoned R Vers and may find the site informative.
They've had it with Florida and plan to travel to Texas at this time next year.
Photos of the cattle drive were beautiful!
What an interesting piece of art.

Wor!, Oh goodie!, Whoopie!
When you travel it is almost like I'm going along and can hardly wait to hear and see of all the places you will be bloging about! It will be fun to read them all to Joyce again. The winter is getting long! Where you are going is some of our favorite places. Be sure and see the "grand canyon" of Texas, Arches Park and Bryce Canyon, one of the most beautiful places I've been! That canyon country is absolutely breath taking. We could have spent so much more time there but only had three weeks. Hopefully you will describe and send pictures of all of those places I would have loved to have visited but couldn't. Have fun, be safe. Love, Sharron
We're so glad you had a wonderful trip and look forward to seeing you. Your last comment 'It's time to start planning our next trip' reminds me of myself. We even had a decale put on the back of the 5th wheel that says "Where to Next". See you soon.
Welcome home Shirley and I have been following Your trip. It has been very interesting especially when when it is places we have been.
Great Job
Bernie and Shirley
Love those convection ovens I've been following you on your trip and enjoying every minute of it. Re the convection oven, when all else fails, read the directions! I no longer have one - darn - but I had one in the old house for years and loved it. It does take some getting used to though. I'm glad you're back in the lower 48 - I've done some worrying about you both with the bears and the bison. Love you.
We're still enjoying your travel blog. You seem to be having such a wonderful trip. We miss you and are looking forward to seeing you at our campouts when you get back. Happy Trails!
reply Tom!
Seems like you are going where no man has gone before!
Hope you are enjoying your trip!
It does look adventurous - i hope i am not too far behind you. seems like fun!
any waterparks?
Hello! Wow, it looks like you guys are having a really fun adventure! All the pictures look beautiful, I really like those totem poles. That wall kind of reminds me of the Westurn Wall in Jeruselem.
Have a great time!
Love,
Olivia
Muncho Lake Hey Lynn,
Just read your last blog! I think I have an identical picture of our campsite at Muncho Lake (different camper of course). Wasn't that a fun campground to try to maneuver? As I remember the road is right next to the water and you have to manuever your rig carefully so you don't end up in the lake! It was a beautiful place though. Had lots of sea planes coming and going while we were there as well. I've been copying your blogs off and taking them to Joyce in the nursing home and reading them to her. She is truly enjoying hearing of your travels as well and often reminesces about things we did while there. Glad you are having such a great time! Sharron
Enjoy. Larry and I are enjoying your travel blog. Love the pictures too. Sounds like your having a good time and seeing lots of interesting sights. Hope everything goes well for the rest of your trip. We'll be thinking about you.
Wildlife for sure! Your pictures are great! I remember on our way back home in 1954 coming through Yellowstone after we had the accident in Idaho and no back windshield. Turned around to get my camera and a bear was trying to crawl in the back window. I'll never forget that! Exciting! Hope you enjoy Canada. The Canadian Rockies have some of the most magnificant scenery I have ever seen! You will love it! I couldn't get in to read the comments. Seems there is some "fatal error" on that section. It might just be my computer. Anyway, know I am thoroughly enjoying your blog. Hope the RV is through acting up for you! Take care. Sharron
Appreciation Hi guys, Just this morning I was going over all of your old blogs and worrying about you since it's been a few days. I really appreciate hearing about your trip and look forward to your account of each new adventure. Can't believe how close you were to that bison!!! They are HUGE. And to think he was right there in your campground! Amazing. Anyway, thanks again for keeping me a part of your journey. Stay safe. Love, Penne
What fun! Brings back many wonderful memories seeing these pictures. South Dakota was always one of my favorite vacation places. Be Sure and stop over in Custer State Park before you go. There is so much to see in that area. The pigtail curves; All the buffalo and donkeys roaming free; the Wild Horse sanctuary with petroglyphs, etc, etc. Have fun and send lots of pictures! Sharron
