Gate envy...
See? I knew you'd be jonesing for home-improvement projects just a short way into your trip. ~~~ Flash-forward 5 years when we're all visiting Jeff's flashy high-rise condo, easily recognized by the giant sequoia arbor on the balcony! ~~~

Your Right!
You are absolutely right Jeske, "It is not that bad once you get used to it." I'm writing this blog for my family and friends who are have a western perspective and belief system. As you pointed out once you have submerged yourself in another culture, it all becomes normal. The point of traveling for me is to broaden my perspective of the world around us. I want to be initially shocked and surprised. For the less adventurous, they'll have to read my blog. But like yourself, there's no substitute for finding out for yourself. Good on you!!!

Umtata - Mthatha
It is not that bad once you get used to it. Yes, it is busy but at least it doesn't lack atmosphere. I am spending a few months here doing research and I find that even though I have to look for it, the city has got everything you need (and more)..

Slow!
Yes, I'm slow in updating my blog. Hey - I'm on vacation remember?! Highspeed internet access is not readily available in the bush. Seems like the only time I can get a fast enough satellite connection is around 5:00am in the morning. So there! Jeff :-)

New wardrobe?
Hey Jeff, Wendy said you went out and bought new stuff when your luggage didnt show up. Good thinking! How did you arrange to get your baggage lost? Good luck, I'll be following your trip from my desk in (today) sunny Vancouver.
