August 27 - Dartmouth/Halifax - I still have to meet up with my sisters who have planned a cycling trip through Prince Edward Island. Unfortunately, they have already left by car from Montreal which means I can't contact them to let them know I no longer have my bike. Thankfully Wade (who I met in Washington) has taken pity on me and bestowed on me maritime hospitality including: ferrying me to the bike shop, giving me a place to stay and stocking the fridge full with beer. :-) Aside fom drinking all of Wade's beer, I managed to rent a car and transfer my possessions from the damaged motorcycle luggage to a Walmart sized suitcase. Hopefully nothing will go wrong with my excursion to PEI.... read more

25Aug07 - Liscomb - Let me start by stating that I'm alright and I was not injured at all despite what you might think by looking at the pictures. Today I started out from Sydney where I stayed the extra night to avoid a large rain storm. I'm on my way to Wade's place (a friend of Lisa's) in Dartmouth to hangout for a couple of days before traveling to meet up with my sisters in PEI. The first sign of trouble was when the video camera mount broke while I was riding. I managed to catch the camera before it hit the ground and capture the moment on video. The footage is actually pretty funny. I had purchased a waterproof case for the video camera in Boston and was bummed out that I was not ... read more

22Aug07 - Wentworth - Pushed to get to Cape Breton Island before the storm systems arrive by the weekend. I rode as far as I could till dark and arrived in Pugwash only to find out their were no accommodations available. :-( I reluctantly rode after dark to Wentworth. 23Aug07 - Sydney - Left Wentworth and was disappointed to discovered had I ridden the extra 25km from Pugwash to Tatamagouche I could have stayed in a cool converted railway station and rail cars. Rode the beautiful coast line of the Cape Breton Island. I had a tense couple of hours of riding through the park after dark. This is the most dangerous time since: 1) Deer and moose are more likely to wander onto the roads. 2) It's a park! wild animals are not hunted and ... read more

20Aug07 - St. Andrews - Arrived at the border around noon in Calais. It took 45 minutes to cross the bridge back into Canada and another 20 minutes to pay my duties for all the stuff I brought back. Rode a short distance to St Andrews. I've been out of the country for 12 weeks!... read more

19Aug07 - Maine - On my way back to Canada through the border crossing at Calais, Maine. I stayed a couple of nights over the weekend in Augusta. Then rode to Machias ME before crossing the border. Along the way I had to checked out the blueberry pie, coffee and ice cream at Wild Blueberry Land in Columbia Falls. It's scenic along Hwy 1 and surprising free of traffic. It wasn't until I Robbinston I ran into a lot of road construction which might have explained the lack of traffic. ... read more

12Aug07 - Rhode Island - Experienced my first real seafood along the coastal waters at Mystic Bay. Spent two days at the Sheraton by the Providence Airport. It was right beside the airfield so I got to watch up close the planes takeoff and land. At one point there was a thunderstorm which grounded all the planes and left a line up of aircrafts. I felt sorry for the poor air traffic controllers as the weather cleared and the ensuing meyley of planes landing and taking off. Wandered into the city and visited Brown University where I picked up some souveniers including a George Bush countdown clock. You can't be too popular when people are selling countdown clocks on when you'll be leaving the White House. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/22125934 http://connect.garmin.com/activity/22125936 14Aug07 - Cape Cod - Rode to the ... read more

10Aug07 - Washington DC to Baltimore I barely make it out of DC. I'm caught in slow moving traffic and get fed up of the heat after an hour. I head to the nearest exit for the Ho Jo. I spend the night booking hotels and plotting my way to Cape Cod and Boston. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/14368368 11Aug07 - Baltimore to Stamford Refreshed! 05Aug07 - Willmington - Down the New Jersy Turnpike to Wilmington http://connect.garmin.com/activity/14368382 07Aug07 - Washington DC - As I approach DC, there is a lot of poverty surrounding the capital. Exhausted from riding in the heat, I'm so glad to get to the hotel and crash for a nap. I've earned this evening martinee (lychee flavoured?) http://connect.garmin.com/activity/14368375 08Aug07 - Washington DC - Met up with my friend Lisa who was in DC for a conference and toured the city. We walked from the hotel to the White House. From there we visited the Washignton Monument, Veterans Memorial, Lincohn Monument and the Smithsonian Areospace Museum. It was a really hot day 34c with 100% humitity. We were deperate to cool off and had to resort to standing underneath the water sprinklers in the Washington Mall. 09Aug07 - ... read more
