The Temple of Heaven is a temple used by the Emperor in the 1500"s or so, built as
part of the Forbidden City complex. It has similarity to both the Forbidden City and
the Summer Palace. It is made much like the others.
About 11 am we started for Samitai, a section of the wall that until recently was mostly left as is. I love
This section was recently repaired with many new stones set and debris cleared from the path. It is still
wild and more authentic to me with not so many visitors.
We arrived at the wall but needed to get our room at a farmhouse close by. After a quick lunch we went up
the gondola aa far as it would go then hiked up the steep trail to the top. If you have read Dr
Suess you can imagine these mountains to be the same.
We went as far as safely possible in one direction then walked the other way until the river where there is a break
In the wall and a trail has been cut back to the bottom. From there we walked back to the hotel, set on the roof patio under
the shadow of the wall and drank a well deserved beer.
Photos will follow as the phone died. I'll take it up in the morning.
