Hi All, hope all is well at home we are having a great time!
We arrived in Hoi An by bus and had a bit of a walk with our backpacks on our backs to get to our hotel, sweaty work that is but that's about as difficult as it gets for us haha! We are staying in a hotel called thanh van which is nice and also has a small pool which is great to cool off. Our first objective is to look around the many tailors to try figure out where we are going to get our clothes made, there are over 300 and the quality and price varies substantially. We picked a small place which had good reviews and was not as expensive as the bigger more well known tailors. You can have anything you want made from suits, dresses, coats, shirts, shoes, hats etc. Ian decided to have a blazer made and laura had two dresses made. Its so hard to pick the material and colour your just not sure if it is going to match so it is a bit scary. After we had picked our material and been sized up and the girls deciding
on the designs of the dresses which seemed to take forever we were told to come back the next day to have our first fitting. The following morning we returned a were really suprised at how well our clothes looked. Ians blazer was really nice and fitted perfectly. Laura and orlaghs dresses needed a few alterations at one stage laura had to get on a bike in the dress to go to the seamstress a couple of blocks away needless to say she got a few strange looks along the way with her holding the dress up as she cycled!
We decided to rent some bikes and cycle to the beach which is 3km away. The beach is really nice so we spent two days just chilling on the beach. Hoi an is probably one of the nicest places we have visited so far. The town has small streets and lovely bars and restaurants. It feels like a small town in Italy. While on our way to the beach one day ian decided to stop in this small local barbers to get his hair cut. The guy finished cutting his hair and then preceded to use a blade to
take hair of his eyelids, forehead and earlobes! He then put a monors headlamp on and took out some tools to start cleaning out his ears haha he was getting a full service haha but he did a good job and it was an experience to say the least!
We decided to post our clothes back home instead of carrying them with us so it will probably be a while before we get to wear them. We have got another sleeper bus to take us to Nha trang, unfortunately Orlagh is leaving us she is heading to Saigon to meet her cousin so it was a teary goodbye again but our paths may cross again later on maybe in the islands in Thailand! We have some company now Dan and Helen a couple from London who we met on the way to Hue are heading to Nha trang on the same bus as us and are going to stay in the same hotel as us so it will be nice to have some company for a while. I think I'll need to be around a guy for awhile after spending the last few weeks with the two girls who
had me getting pedicures and massages etc!
Bye for now!
