If I had a top 5 most beautiful places in the world i have ever been to, Halong Bay would be up there easily. Yeah everyone raves about it, but it is everything and more than they have said !
We went there for 3 days and 2 nights. We stayed overnight on a boat the first night, and later in a hotel the following night. I wont talk too long about it, as i will let the pics speak for themselves.
We went for a trek on the second day to the peak of one of the mountains. It was easy enought for about 2 thirds of the trip but after that is was tought enough. I really enjoyed it and so did larry. we met up with some other couples, and we had a few nights on the slosh. On the boat I had delusions of water rats jumping through my window ... but Larry reckons that was vodka hellausinations !
The experience was amazing and i will not forget it.
In Hanoi we visited the Hanoi Hilton. just for those who havent heard, it was a notorious prison in Hanoi, where towards the
Halong Bay # 2
there were villages on the water, with fish farms, schools ... amazing !end of its days was used to hold the captured american pilots. Its funny, which side to believe, at the Jail they show pictures saying how well the flyboys were trteated and show pictures of them taking it easy, but the yanks talk about how harshly they were treated. Hard who to believe ! Anyway after that we hit a few other Museums and chilled out around the Lake.
