Hoi an Beach
Lovely sunset over the mountains in Hoi an Vietnam hello from beautiful sapa!
well the last diary entry i made we were on our way to hoi an, we spent 16hrs on a bus there wasn't too bad we got the back seat so managed to get a bit of sleep! it was well worth the journey though Hoi an is a pretty little town along a river it is very European, small streets selling art and cafes with lanterns which are all colours lit up at night! we ate on the river at night which was very nice......the second day we were there we hired a bike and decided to cycle to the beach near by........well near by being 20min ride away which seemed like a good idea at the time but in 38 degrees hmmmm well we got a bit hot! ha ha ha. It was great fun riding along the roads with the locals all beeping there horns at everybody and anything. the beach was a postcard view white sand green water and empty....fab!!!! we sat in the shade where we met Anne yes Anne a very Vietnamese name i know......she was a seller of fruit footballs fags and tiger balm meeting every tourists needs

In the quaint town, a cyclo busy obviously! all hanging from a basket! we purchased a Frisbee off her and played whilst watching the locals catching jellyfish in plastic carrier bags very strange, we don't know if they eat them????? they eat everything else that moves. we ended up playing Frisbee with one of the beach sellers it was so funny she made a little noise every time she through it ha ha ha! The sunset was spectacular the sky was pink over the nearby mountains......the sand was full of locals who had all come out to cool off in the sea, all sat on big mats eating food and drinking rice wine! speaking of rice wine we found ourselves in some guys art gallery he invited us in and he gave us rice wine which is like strong tequila and Ste had a beer, he had a little dog and was just lonely bless him!
after our couple of days in hoi an we found ourselves on another long bus journey to Hanoi (the capital) Yet another 16hr journey not much sleep this time as the locals do not travel very well, they are all being sick the whole way! nice hey. We only spent a

More beautiful scenery in the nicest part of Vietnam by far day in Hanoi we did a bit of shopping around it is a big city again lots of people, mopeds, street food and men playing chequers! We then got ourselves on a night sleeper train last night to sapa! so all in all we have spent last night on a train then the night before on a bus! feel like we are flying again doing night flights ha ha ha! The train was an experience, we paid for the highest standard which was $20 each for a 10hr journey......we were in a cabin with four bunks, me and Ste in one set then a snoring Vietnamese guy which ste had to wake to tell hi we had arrived, and a sleep talker! was funny. So we are now in sapa, it is in the very north of Vietnam almost China! The scenery is stunning big mountains covered in tiered rice fields that are all green and brown......then there are waterfalls and rivers with crystal clear waters running through the valleys then small minority villages dotted along the mountain side......beautiful! we are in a guesthouse with a view to die for of all the surrounding areas, the cloud has come down

H'mong hill tribe women and babies that follow you for hours very low as i am writing this as it is quite high up. It is much cooler here too which makes a refreshing change! It seems the further north we go the better it is with climate scenery and people even though we are still bargaining for everything we buy from rooms to bottles of water, they try to charge you double what it should be the buggers.
We have spent this morning trekking into a minority village, all the people wear traditional dress, a blue outfit with embroidery of flowers along with matching tan sandals and funny chap like socks up to the knee, then there hair all combed back with a hat quite cute going to see if i can get one that's if we can fit it in. Obviously they are all geared up for tourists so try sell you everything so we bought some very nice cushion covers and a belt that i am wearing a bandanna! We are off to have some food now going to try a traditional Vietnamese hot pot hmmmmm! Then off for more trekking early in the morning, we have to have a guide to further a field as this
