Tam Tahn
first day teaching at a school in tam tahn! hey!!
well it seems like a lot has happened since i last wrote an entry on here! i got my camera back yesturday from one of volunteers at da nang and its fixed!!! im so happy! and relieved!! so i will be adding some more photos soon! it only cost me about six pounds too!!
this week has been really busy! teaching and playing with the children everyday at all the different placements! some really challenging classes and some fun! one thing i have learnt from doing this is that i have a new found respect for teachers! it can be so draining at times and it is so easy to just give up but then you have really good days and it makes it all worth while!
some of the higlights of this week have been going out for a drink with a girl from my hospital class which was so much fun! and really interesting!.. because her english is really good we can talk about loads of different things and i have learnt some really interesting things about vietnamese culture! Lam (her name) goes to uni in saigon and when i finish the program she said
Tam Tanh
our class!! she will show me roun the city which will be great bcos i know she will show me the best places!
another highlight has been being invited to a concert on phu ninh lake near tam ky.. we were invited by the tourism department and went for a meal on the beach in Tam Tahn first and then we were taken to phu ninh where we were escorted by policemen, through thousands of people, to the front row of this concert on the lake! it was a really surreal experience and for the whole thing we were treated like royalty - we were sitting on the front row with politicians, mayors and chairmans of the province! the next day some of the children said they saw us on t.v..wierd!
This weekend I have been staying in Hoi An again at another beautiful hotel! takes some time getting used to the air con and luxury! its just been really wet all weekend and it seems that monsoon season is finally upon us!! ( ive never seen rain like it!) i couldnt stay away from the tailors and had a gorgeous brown, tweed coat made for 20 quid and a dress
for 5!
anyway i have to go but will put some pics up soon!!
