well I have finally left Tam Ky and it was a an emotional last day but i kinda knew that id be going back to pick up the rest of my bags so it wasn't as bad! Felt really strange leaving though because it did become my home but once again i was stepping out alone to do some travelling with no plan really as to where i was headed! my friend lam booked me a bus ticket for nha trang which is about 500 km south of Tam Ky so i was taken by mrs hahn and anh (a guy who came to same goodbye to me, who i taught, but he also helped out at the Home of affection). In true vietnamese style it was an hour late so i stood there having a ... read more
well this is it my second to last day of the program!!! only today and tomorrow left and a new volunteer arrives at the house tomorrow ( her name is carrie) i really cant believe how quickly it has gone and i want to stay for much longer! it seems pointless to go back to uni when i could be doing so much better here! but as long as one person leaves another person arrives and it really doesnt make that much difference to the children because they are so used to change anyway! the most important thing (i have come to realise..) is that while you are here you are making a small difference to their lives by teaching them and having fun with them! its so hard to leave after such a short time ... read more

it seems like ages ago that i last wrote an entry on here! its a very hot sticky nght here and had quite a stressful day!! it feels more stressful i think bcos we all had a bit of a holiday this wkend in Hoi An! All the volunteers went to Hoi An for the weekend which is about an hour and a half north of Tam Ky..its a really picturesque town and famous for its many tailors! they can pretty much make anything u like and if u take a magazine cutting..even better! everything is made to measure so you know it will fit and if it doesnt they alter it straight away! - its amazing and very addictive!! i had a bikini, kimono, 3 pairs of shorts, sandals, a dress and a few other ... read more
today was another early start at the Home of affection which is only about a 5min bike ride away! all five of us (me, robin, abbe, maddie and liane) went and each have our own group! I was teaching 2 boys who are brothers.. Sang and Trang and also 2 girls Linh and Thung. They were from 7 years old to about 10! It was a little difficult at first to keep their attention but after a while they settled down and i soon realised they all had very different abilities! I organised 4 different activities for them for the hour and a half and it all went quite well considering i left the game of word bingo at home which i spent ages making yesturday!!! After the class everyone played together and chatted, the kids ... read more
well most people will have got my crazy long email about what has happend to me so far and its been mad! but im happy to say that i got my bags today so im very happy and VERY relieved! didnt realise how much stuff i had till i started un-packing!! today, my second day, has been another hectic day!! woke up at 7 after a good sleep but could of slept for another day as i still feel very jet lagged! Started off the day in Tam Thahn a smalll village next to the beach. Driving through Tam Thanh was a very unusual experience to say the least... every single person stopped what they were doing and either waved or said "allo" as they all do here! i soon realised that many of the locals ... read more
