Scaling heights...
C and Steve (Canada) - the 2 feather weights of our group are assigned the scaffolding with the least support! By Tegan...
It is with alot of mixed feelings that I will head into tomorrow, it being our last day here.
We have achieved so much and the walls are almost complete with the floor and roof to be finished after we go. The overwhelming part though will be the sadness having to leave these great people in their welcoming and lovely home and neighbourhood.
As a housewarming gift we got the family a rice cooker and a water purifier. They had neither of these things so that will also help to make their lives easier and hopefully healthier.
The scaffolding has hit some pretty scary heights and I am now more happier than ever to be 'larger'. Carinda being the lightest on our team has had to enounter some very interesting scaffolding structures with little more than a piece of wood between her and a 5 metre drop. I have been on the metal scaffolding, still very high and knee-wobbling!
Today we joined some students from a different province as they came on a tour of the local islands. We were each assigned 7 students (they are all learning English) and the day involved lots of sightseeing
Game time
During the breaks we play with the kids - ten pin bowls was a big hit as all the kids could play together and activities to improve their English. They were all great, we had lots of fun and the Australian flags that C and I packed were a big hit (they also helped us keep our teams together).
We have the ceremonies tomorrow, ours is about 11am so we hope to have some great pictures to share with you then.
The next you will hear from me will be the post-wrap so thanks for reading and take care.
