Maya Bay
Vies of the beach where the movie the beach was filmed. The whole island has amazing cliffs that go straight down into the water Ok just kidding! But, I'm sure all of you have seen the news about Thailand... just a little Military Coup going on... No big deal! Actually we really didn't have a clue that it had happened... I'm presently on the island of Koh Phi Phi... only thing that has changed here is that they closed the bars early a few nights. The locals don't seem at all bothered. At time same time there are lots of rumors going around. It was kind of shitty to hear about the bombing in Hat Yai... a Canadian was killed... Mick and I were there two days before... nice place friendly people... we went down to Malaysia to got our visas extended for a month.
It's been a busy month...
I took a 22 hour train from Malaysia to Bangkok on the 16th of August... Only cost 230TB (that about $7CDN) for my shitty ass 3rd class seat... it was like a school bus seat but with less padding. Met up with three English on the train... started drinking at about noon... didn't realize how strong Chang beer is... by about five we were pissed drunk and hang out of the train door... real smart!
Sleezy
Sending out the vibes in maya bay... I tell ya ladies love the tash! Once in Bangkok I met up with couple friends... Eddie Ok from back home and Mick from Ireland who I had met in Australia. Spent the one night in Bangkok then the three of us took the night train down to Chumphon then got the boat over to Koh Toa... got the shits on the boat... trying to use a squat toilet on a moving boat is not easy! We got the sweetest hut right on the beach... it had enough room for the three of us but Eddie is a princess and wanted air-con. Mick and I rented scooters and went exploring the island... it was good fun... the roads were shit and I can see why so many people crash. Koh Toa was our intro to Sam Sang Whisky and red bull buckets... very cheap and very dangerous. Went for a couple dives... I wasn't very impressed I thinks it's definitely over rated and it was more expansive then Malaysia. Spent about a week there before heading back up to Bangkok with Eddie. I had bought a plane ticket to Moscow and was planning on doing the trans-Mongolian railway. To make a long story short there was problems
View of Phi Phi
This is the view from the view point high above the beach with the ticket etc. I decided not to go. Instead I decided to go back down to the islands and meet back up with Mick in Koh Phangnga. But first I got sick in Bangkok for about a week... got to see a lot of Bangkok... pretty cool place. Took the Bus down to Surat Thani... met a couple Thai military guys on the bus... one of them ended up escorting me to the ferry terminal... he spoke very little english... he also dented his dad's car in the process... I was a little nervous but in the end it worked out perfectly. When I arrived on the island I met up with Mick and two other friends from Australia Simon and Vanessa. Arrived the day of the Half Moon party... it was in the jungle so we had to take a cab... there was about fourteen of us in the cab pick-up. The cabby fucked us around... he said he couldn't drive up to the jungle party and we had to wait for another cab... we wait for an hour and everyone was getting pissed off. I thought I'd get the ball rolling and steal the keys to the
Drinking some buckets on Phi Phi
Drinking some buckets at hippies bar on Phi Phi cab... obvious there was a bit of an up roar... I slipped the keys into the pocket of a very unwilling Mick. But, the cab to the party did showed up soon after Mick returned the keys... unfortunately the drunk cabby didn't think it was very funny and started threatening Mick life... Mick was of course pleading his innocence... I tried telling the driver it was me but he was drunk I wasn't listening. Needless to say Mick was fearful for his life for the next week... we laugh about it know! The party was pretty good very cool venue. We ended up staying in Koh Phangnga for the Full moon party which was a week after. Now I wish I could tell you I spent the week exploring the island and laying on the beach getting a tan... we pretty much got smashed every night and saw very little daylight. Our routine was as follows: got up @ noon... eat at Same Same(really good food)... watch a movie... had a nap until 6... Went to Same Same eat and started drinking... Went to the beach and drunk until 6am... fought off the ladyboys on the walk home. By the
Lady Boy
I think it's a dude! time the Full moon party rolled around we were well prepared. We went to a pre-party at Same Same... met up with three Irish girls; Orla, Cat and Trina. By the end of the party we were all on stage with the band. We head to the beach for the party... the beach was absolutely full of people. Mick and I ended up staying on the beach until about 9am... it was really funny seeing all the people passed out on the beach. After our time on Haad Rin beach we decide to head up to the north part of the island to relax and de-tox. Spent a few days there... rented bikes again and explored the Island... dived at Sail Rock which was one of my favorite sites so far. Next we headed for Koh Phi Phi... not before doing the visas run. Met up with three english girls we had met @ the full moon on the boat. The boat ride was fun... it started to rain and the sea was very rough. Koh Phi Phi is very beautiful... it has lots of massive rock cliffs that go straight into the sea. There is still lots of re-construction
On the Way to the Beach
Love the jungle... beautiful place from the Tsunami going on... people who were coming back for the first since the Tsunami were amazed... there are far fewer hotels then before. Went for four dives... really beautiful and much nicer then Koh Toa. Went on a tour to Koh Phi Phi elay... went to the beach were they filmed "The Beach". Stayed on Koh Phi Phi for over a week... we are ready to move on... heading up to Bangkok tonight and then up to Changi Mai to do same elephant trekking. The thai island are ten times more developed then Malaysia's islands... thailand is also full of people on two week holidays. Well in think I've said enough... hope you're all enjoying work or school... Cheers
