sweet little samsong After 3 days in Pai, it was back off to Soi dog I went. Gary had pals coming to bangkok he was going to meet in a few days time, and again i didnt want to spend that much time in the city, and after pondering other local shelters, remembering my bad experience at Samui dog, I decided to go back to where i started, as i knew i would be welcome and would enjoy myself. I flew from chiang mai to phuket on sunday and started on the monday. It was so nice to be back, and honestly felt like i had never left! Saying that, a lot of the dogs in my run had been adopted and left, which was amazing, and 2 new additions had arrived, one of which was in the picture below. Not much had changed in some senses yet the pack mentality and the dominance had switched a bit. The previous top lady was showing her age a bit, and the secon in command had stepped up. The new ones also took the opportunities to prove themselves so it was definately more boisterous, and there was just one of me, and a lot of dogs

the port at samui - look at that water! needing love! Sadly many of the dogs who had left were from the back sala where the shy ones hung out, and only 2 were left, and they were getting a bit of a hard time off the dogs. Had to intervene various times a day!
After my week was up, where i met some lovely, and some very strange people I felt like I was leaving again in the best possible way. I was able to walk shy dogs i couldnt before, who enjoyed hteir walks! The 2 very shy at the back immediately came up to me whereas last time it took weeks. Several others are also adopted and just waiting on their blood tests. So, it proved to me what good work is being done and that the dogs are in the best capable hands. No tears this time!
The weather in monsoon period was pretty changeable in phuket, sometimes lovely sometimes terrible, and i felt like if i stayed in phuket i may not get the beach time I craved. After some deliberation i decided to go back to the Gulf. This time to Ko tao, aka turtle island. The only one i hadnt

the propeller plane from phuket to samui! been to, which came highly recommended. A flight from Phuket to samui then a hovercraft ride and i arrived and checked into my hostel. Ko tao is tiny, just 7km x 3km and much more relaxed than most of the islands. I hve to sya, I was very lazy when I was there. I didnt leave my town/beach! The taxi drivers were wanting crazy money to go 5 min journeys, and i couldnt be bothered with the hassle. Just wanted an easy life! I considered a boat tour but my Baht was running low so decided against it. So.. I spent a few days lying by the beach and reading. Just what i needed after 5 days of sweat, much, slebber and dog dirt! Ko tao was really pretty and it is famous for diving, why most of the tourists were there. You can see all kind of things i am told. However after the phillipines I felt ok giving it a miss. My hostel was ok, but not very sociable. Spoke to one english lad and met a group of folk when out at a bar, which was nice. Sometimes being alone can be lonely, but there were loads

ko tao of solo travellers there too.
I left by boat and bus to get back to bangkok, in order to have a days gap before our flight to NYC. NYC! It doesnt feel real typing that! I cannot beleive that our time is over and that im going to the city that nevre sleeps.
I have now been in asia just over 5 months, 1 of them at Soi dog. Couple of days in Malaysia, a month in Phillipines, month in thailand islands, 3 weeks cambodia, a month vietnam, week in Laos and another 2 weeks in thailand. Where does the time go?!
Favourite places - All phillipines minus manilla, ko phangan, ko tao and PAi in thailand. Hoi An, Ho chi minh and Ha long in Vietnam. Kep, kampot and Siem reap in cambodia, going tubing in Laos.
Dislikes - Manila. KL, Phnom penh, Ko rong, Ko samui.
And lots of other amazing places in the good pile, those are just stand outs. I have eaten amazing food, had wonderful massages, essentially lived like a queen, sunning myself and playing with animals. What a great time and how privledged i am. You see that when
