We arrived back at Karon beach, quite sad to leave Chalong because we met some good friends but it was time to move on.... we went out in the evenings trying to meet other travelers - it was close to New Year and although me and Phil enjoy each others company(!) obviously its always nice to party and share New Year with friends! It was getting closer to the night and still we had met no people, damn! Karon is a nice place, nice and quiet but maybe a little too quiet if you're travelling. We've found that the majority of people that are here are on their 2 week holiday from work and not actually traveling. There arent that many young people here.
When we were in Chalong we met this guy called Tim from Western Australia. Ive never met somebody so laid back in all my life! - he says its because he comes from the bush. He never had a TV when he was younger, his first pet was a dingo and he has Kangaroos living in his backgarden! He's working over here at the moment, he's a sparky. Anyway, we all got on real well so
New Year Eve
This was most of the people that joined us on the pub crawl on New Years we called him New Years eve. He drove down to meet us with Josh, and the 2 Thai girls from the hostel - soh and Dauh we had a few beers and a few free shots and we ended up going back to Chalong Hostel with them. When we got there there were some old faces but also some new. We had a few drinks and had a few games of Ping Pong (I know, Ping Pong on New Years Eve!?) Good fun though! We paid a mini bus driver 2000 Baht between us (about 28 quid) to drive us around all night on a bit of a pub crawl - there was about 15 of us in this bus! We had a really good night, good chance to meet more people and hear more stories, excellent! But there was an even better night to come - New Years Day!
I woke up New Years Day feeling so hungover. I wanted mum to bring me breakfast in bed - a nice bacon and egg sandwich as she often does after we've had a night out!! yumm! But she wasnt here so I had to fend for myself! In the
New Years Eve
Phil and Tim playing Ping Pong! end we decided to treat ourselves to a full English Breakfast in the Irish Pub across the road - it was bloody lovely!
Tim gave us a bell and said he was going to a beach near us if we wanted to come for the ride. He picked us up and off we went for the day. We went to this really nice beach, gorgeous it was.
Tim had heard about this beach party that happens every Sunday, of course today was Sunday so we thought we would try it out. We got there and had to walk down the mountain side to get to the party on a small secluded beach. We could hear the music and it sounded great! We got down to the beach and there was this wooden beach hut on stilts with a cocktail bar in the middle with a wooden stage at the front. There were lots of people dancing - men in their brightly coloured Speedo's (which is always a bit sore to the eyes!) and lots of girls topless in their thongs (Ideal for you men!) I thought I was in Ibiza for a minute!! I really wanted to get on the
New Years Eve
Me and Daoh - she was the lady that worked at the hostel in Chalong. stage and dance - me and Phil were dying to go clubbing for a dance somewhere and here we were, at last! After being stood on the beach for an hour or so it was actually Tim who suggested we go on the stage (after we had a few beers of course!) Once we got up there, we didnt want to get off! My hang over soon disappeared and I was back on the beer! We were all dancing away for hours! We could have stayed there all night but they ran out of beer would you believe it! It was a brilliant way to start the New Year! Definitely one to remember. Amazing!
It's been really good meeting Tim. Because of his work he has a work van with the petrol all paid for! so he's been driving us around and showing us some new sights. The day after New Years, he took us to a big shopping mall where we went for a Japanese lunch - it was lovely. Phil even tried Sushi and Mussels!! In the evening, Tim stayed and had a few beers with us, played a few games of pool and had a bite
New Years Eve
Phil, Tim and Josh lighing sparklers that lasted all of 5 seconds! to eat. We walked past a pub and noticed a big buffet outside, it had the lot - chicken, egg fried rice, mussels, cockles, garlic bread, soup and lots more. We sat down and had a proper feast later to find out it was all free because it was one of the Thai Barmaids birthday! We love the Thai's!
The Thais are really nice people and do everything they can to make sure we're having a good time and enjoying ourselves. Its so laid back here and no one has a care in the world, which is great but also can be annoying when you're travelling and having a few problems. There is no organisation here, nothing is done properly. If you come to Thailand you have to be open minded and take it as it comes, if you do that then you will have a fantastic time! We really love it here.
We leave Phuket tomorrow and head to Chiang Mai which is in the very North of Thailand. In a way I dont want to leave here! Its so lovely but it is time to move on. Im looking forward to seeing how things are in
New Years Eve
'HAPPY NEW YEAR!!' Chang Mai. We've heard its a lovely place but we've also heard its a lot cooler up there - not sure of they mean cooler or cold! But hey it cant be colder than England can it!?!?!

Hi You Two, looked like it was the party to end all parties, and what a place to spend it, it couldn't have looked better even if the dress code was fancy dress!! I take it there wasn't a MacDonald's around to cure the hangover then Carly?? The last picture looks very familiar I'm not sure it not a distant relative!! Carry on the good work, the blog is excellent, I am very envious of the ball you are having!! Take care, love and miss you both MotherXXX
