Hi Guys,
Bangkok - Koh Samui
7.30pm - 6.30am Night bus
What a hell of a journey, we try to doze but every time we hit a pot hole or take a bend on 2 wheels we jump out of our skins. I am going to try a new tactic next time sleeping pills or don,t sleep at all other wise it's like sleep deprivation torture. 6.30am dumped at small grotty bus depot. We get eaten alive by mozzie's because it is scruffy and very wet. 8am a bus comes along to pick us up for a 65km drive ( the bus looks like it's prime was probably 60's era ) next ferry for just over a hour and finally 15 min taxi ride.
Finally we arrive at Lamai, The Royal Cottage Residence
It is absolutely lovely this is the best hotel yet. Thanks to our Travellerspoint source for booking accommodation, again we have bagged a good one! It is like promotion from backpackers to being a tourist. Where is the soap, iron and hair brush???
Lamai is the second largest resort on the Island. It has great beaches, good choice of bars and restaurants
and of course quite a few girlie bars. Talking of girlie bars as we walked passed there the other night we over heard a couple talking obviously new arrivals and the girlfriend asked her fella where they should go for a drink? he reply's in a nervous irritated tone " somewhere I'am not going to get touched up by a prostitute" We couldn't help but laugh!
We visited the next resort up which is Chewang the largest resort which also has fabulous beaches, more shops, bars and restaurants than Lamai.
Now the weather was a right old mix 3 days of glorious sunshine and then torrential rain. We got caught out in one of the storms. Typical we were at the most northern tip of the island on a scooter in shorts and t-shirt, the heavens opened and all we could do was just laugh all the way home. By the time we arrived back at the hotel the poor scooter was suffering a popped tyre due to the stress it was under with Paddy, me and excessive rain! We had to buy a new tyre but thankfully things are so cheap here, it cost about £3.00
Koh Samui
Beautiful Island we felt a bit restricted due to the weather but is a place to come back too. October is the wettest month in Thailand so maybe it's time to invest in ponchos and a brolly haha
Take Care
