It was time to say goodbye to Railay beach and make our way to Phi Phi island....but not without difficulty. Everyone that had to leave the island had to wait by the beach for the ferry to arrive. We then got onto the longtail boats with all our luggage and then waited out at sea for the ferry to arrive. At times the lontail boat felt like it was going to tip over and we were going to loose al our luggage. But luckily we made it and we all got on to the ferry. We must have been one of the last boats left to get on as there were no more seats left on the ferry, so the rest of us had to sit down on the floor outside as you wouldn't want to stand for 2hrs in one spot....it seemed just a bit overcrowded. Once we got onto Phi Phi we had no idea where to go, but luckily we walked past heaps of people with signs of the hotel names so we found our hotel name and then was told to come back at 1.30pm to board another longtail boat to get to our hotel. Thankfully this
time they helped us with our luggage so it was easier for us to get in and out.
Once we got to our hotel/bungalow we were a little bit disappointed as we found out the only way to get to the main area was by boat which costs money (unfortunately we are running out of cash and we can't get more out because then we'll start getting charged more on the credit card). Initially we also thought half the lights and the air conditioning wasn't working ....but we just needed to be a little more patient then we figured out they did work, it just took a bit of time. On top of this the mattress was hard as a rock and there were a few things that were falling apart in our room..... but otherwise a nice view and a good restaurant right by the beach. Anyway we had some food and then started to feel a bit better, found out we could pay most things by credit card at the hotel and realised it was'nt such a bad place. But the stress of the commute of almost losing our luggage, not being sure how to get to
our next hotel and money worries had got to us a little.
Today was a much better day! We walked down to breakfast and along the way we saw a monkey just chilling in the middle of the road! After breakfast we went on a half day tour of the surrounding islands which I think was the best day we've had so far. We got into another longtail boat and were driven to Shark point where we had our first snorkeling stop. We jumped out of the boat and saw the beautiful coral reef and fish.....as well as a few baby sharks! From there we went to Maya bay (from the move 'the beach') and did some more snorkeling. Blair jumped in first and immediately lost his snorkeling gear so we all had to dive around to try and find it. Thankfully we found it and continued on snorkeling towards the beach. Then we went to Pileh Bay (Lagoon) and did some more snorkeling. I'vetaken heaps of photos and videos on the go pro while snorkeling so hopefully they turn out ok. After our morning of snorkeling we drove past the Viking Cave and then went to Monkey Beach
where several people were atacked by the monkeys because they got too close.....which was actually more scary than funny. We took heaps of pictures of the monkeys from a reasonable distance and then headed back to our hotel where we had lunch with some of the other people from the group. Tonight we are just going to chill out but tomorrow is Blair's birthday so I think we are going to hike to the main beach on the island (which we found out we can do through one of the people in our group). Talk to you later 😊
