Day 18
Khao Sok National Park. We are staying here for 2 nights, the first day we decide to go tubing. Basically you sit in a big rubber ring and float down a river. We all take park - Hollie, Jen, Matt, Jo, Mia, Esther, Chris, Ivan & Katerina ( the rest of the group went ahead to Koh Samui). So much fun floating along the river, gorgeous surroundings big mountains and jungle.
We choose to go on a night safari, god knows what possessed us! Trek gear on, socks tucked up over trousers as there are leeches in the jungle. Torches in hand and away we go. Our leader points out many creepy crawlies along the way. terrifying. More of a dark insect trail really. We see a snake, tons of massive spiders including a big hairy leaping one about 4 times the size of a tarantula. Not unlike a small dog. Scorpions, stick insects, frogs and last but not least leeches. The first sighting was when our leader shone a torch on some coming out the ground, not what i expected alot skinnier than a worm. Second sighting was the one attached to Jen's ankle. After the guide ripped
it off there was a little blood and itching but after a while it was okay. Feeling traumitised and violated we went back, got changed, went for drinks aaround a campfire. Had the bar to ourselves to ou just helped yourself and wrote down what you drank the next day. How very trusting. Had a few to bloat out the insects then bed.
Day 19
Lazy day in no mood to do anything but eat.
