These formations were abundant in Ao Nang and Ko Phi Phi.
Meme did much justice to the breakfast we adore at Dream with yesterday’s entry. Today, we request the American Breakfast again. I switch the banana with nutmeg smoothie for a mixed berry one. Mems chooses the freshly squeezed OJ. Knowing how much she loves the tomatoes here, I made her an offer to test the strength of the affinity: I’ll give you anything you want, ANYTHING, for that tomato. SHE PASSED! That’s how great these tomatoes are. ANYTHING!

We pack up, leave most of our luggage at Dream because Thai Air Asia only allows 15kg/person, and 30km later we are back at Suvarnabhumi airport. Thai Air Asia is the equivalent to Southwest or Jet Blue (discount USA carriers), sans the TVs with cable, free beverage service (I’m talking about non-alcoholic beverages too), and blankets. I guess the only similarities are the cheap prices and leather seats.

In the Krabi airport, Meme makes a friend—Alicia from Seattle—who we split a cab with because it’s on the pricey side (600 Baht). Forty minutes later, we reach Krabi La Playa Resort, which is actually in Ao Nang. It’s 4pm, but we haven’t eaten since breakfast, so we dine: yellow curry with chicken,

This is what we have to deal with for four days... nice!
panang curry with chicken. Back in the room, we blast the A/C; it’s at least 38°C today. Of course, there has to be drama, but it’s minor. The wireless is secured and trying to explain to non-English speakers that we need a 13 digit password, not ten as they were trying to provide, is not easy. This type of drama I don’t mind.

The feature film on Star Movies is “Red Dragon.” Neither of us has heard of this movie, starring Anthony Hopkins and Edward Norton. Wait a minute, this is Hannibal. Where the hell did Red Dragon come from? We watch, rather Meli watches and gives me updates for the first hour while I play Risk, then we watch together. Spices, the restaurant at the resort, has closed so we go to nearby outdoor food court with CHEAP prices. A feast is in order: tom yum (spicy soup), som tam (papaya salad), phad thai (uh, pad thai), sweet mango with sticky rice, Singha beer. All for under $10. Ha! I would have gladly paid $40 back home for this tasty meal. It is so good, it prompts me to ask Meli to rate the world’s best cuisines and

Not quite SeaWind at Boracay as far as beach view goes, but the pool makes up for it. And for cheaper! Thank you, Air Asia Holidays.
the best countries to live in for food. Yes, those two categories are different and the ranking is for our amusement only. Sorry. Back at Krabi La Playa, a chubby gringo girl passes us in the hall and greets us with a valley girl version of the Thai hello, sawad-dee-ka! How about good bye.

Our purpose here in Ao Nang is to do nothing. Here goes.
