Scooter Time
The scooter we rented on Koh Samui for the day. It was fun checking out the waterfalls. Today we are leaving to head to the Laos border so we thought we should write about our last week and a half in Thailand. After Koh Phangan we headed to the other island Koh Samui. We rented a scooter for one day and drove around the island, checking out the two famous waterfalls. This was a ton of fun but kinda scary because you have to get used to driving on the other side of the road. One night we actually got to see some Mauy Tai, Thailand kick boxing. It is really popular here. We got to sit two rows from the front and saw 8 fights. This was neat to see in real life but also very brutal. None of the guy fights finished because one of them was always knocked out or too badly hurt to go on.
After we took a day and traveled to the west coast to Krabi. We stayed on the beach called Ao Nang. We met this really nice couple and the four of us hung out the few days we had there. We ventured over to Ralei beach. This place was really cool because of all the rock formations around it

The Thailand boxing fight we saw on Koh Samui. and in the water. We found a cave and saw some cool bats. The beach was amazing and even some wild monkeys came down and visited us. Although one bit the friend we were with. EEK! The west coast is different then the east as the waves are a lot stronger. It was cool to see the difference. On one of the days the 4 of us rented two scooters to go see Crystal Lagoon. We thought it was close but it ended up being a 2 hour scooter ride just to get there. Curtis did a good job driving it for so long. Crystal Lagoon was this naturally made pool in the middle of some trees. It was really pretty and we enjoyed the swim before our long ride back home.
After Krabi we took another boat ride to another island called Koh Phi Phi. We only had one day but it was amazing. It was such a cool island. There are no cars on the island and this place was wiped out after the tsunami so there was tons of construction going on. But it was still the coolest place. We decided to go on this boat tour

More fighting. for the day and it was awesome. The boat took us to monkey beach where we got to see more monkeys and feed them pineapple. Then the boat stopped at Koh Phi Lay (an island close to Koh Phi Phi) where we had a chance to kayak into this amazing bay with huge rocks jetting up out of the water. It was just us with our kayak in it, it was so peaceful! We also did some snorkeling and saw some really cool fish. The best part about it was we stopped at this one place then we had to swim to the rocks, climb through this tiny rock hole which opened up to the huge field which you walk through and then you get to Maya Bay. The beach where the movie "The Beach" was filmed. It was so beautiful. Because it was so hard to get to there was no one there and the scenery was incredible. It was such a cool feeling being there. We had a great time swimming, taking pictures and hanging out. The sand was so soft. I can see why they filmed it there, it really was paradise. So all in all our

On Krabi we had a 2 hour journey on our scooter to get here. one day on Koh Phi Phi was really cool!
The next few nights were filled with trying to get some sleep on two overnight buses to make our way up to Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai. After two sleeper buses and one really groggy day where Curtis and I really did sleep on the street in Bangkok for a few hours we finally made our way up to Chiang Mai.
Here we had a 3 day 2 night trekking adventure booked. This was so awesome. Our first day we did some elephant riding. Elephants are such graceful animals even with their huge size. We rode a mom elephant and she was huge. It was so cool going through jungle areas with the elephant. The rest of the day and the next day consisted of tons of walking through amazing landscape and checking out powerful waterfalls and swimming around them. The last day we saw another waterfall and then did some bamboo rafting. This was lots of fun. Mainly because it rained so much lately that the river was really high and had a strong current so we were actually going really fast. We even got to jump of some rocks into
Crystal Lagoon
We enjoyed the swim when we finally arrived. the deep part of the river. The Thai people know the land so well here that they knew where to stop where it was safe. Of course Curtis made his way up to the highest rock and did some flips into the river. It was cool to see. I jumped off a smaller rock. Our group was 8 people for the trekking and they were all so nice. We had a great time hanging out with them. One night we stayed with the Northern hill tribe people called the Karen tribe. It was so neat to see how they live there totally self sufficient in the middle of the country side. Our bed situation was interesting at best but we made it was it was fun hanging around the fire listening to the Thai group leader sing and play his guitar. The next night we stayed in this hut that was beside the river. We stayed up playing games with candles lighting our way. It was cool going back to basics for a couple nights. When we got back to Chiang Mai, our group decided we should all go out in Chiang Mai so we had a fun last night
Monkey Beach on Koh Phi Phi
Me feeding the wild monkeys pineapple. It was really cool! But they weren't so wild becuase they are used to people feeding them. Although some were not so friendly. hanging out with everyone.
Today we are heading to Laos. Our Thailand time was great! So many adventures and sights to see. The country has so much to offer. Sorry for such basic detail in this blog but our bus to the border should be picking us up any minute. We have so much more to say but you have to sum it up. You just experience so much on the road. We will also upload pictures later. We hope everyone is doing great at home! Happy Halloween everyone. I hope everyone has a great time dressing up and enjoying the celebration. No Halloween here but we are thinking of all of you having a good time.
