"Temple on the hill" in Pai. We have visited this temple last year, but it is a nice place to visit again.
On Jan 18 morning, we took a mini-bus from Chiang Mai to Pai, which is about 130 KM, on a winding mountainous road, going uphill most of the time.

It is not a very pleasant ride. Phyllis slept most of the way, and Gary almost threw up.

We visited Pai last year and enjoyed our stay.

On Jan 19, we rented a motorbike (for 100B) and decided to visit the hotsprings that we so thoroughly enjoyed last year. Well, last year, it was free entry, this year, this is a hefty 400B entry fee for each foreigner.

We re-visit the lady masseuse in a nearby village and enjoyed our massages.

On Jan 20, we re-visited the Pai Canyon.

Last year, when we were in Pai during Christmas. There were a lot more tourists them, both foreign and Thai. This year, there were fewer comparatively. This year, there are a lot more guesthouses built, especially near the Pai river.

On Jan 21, we left Pai on a regular non-air-conditioned big bus to go back to Chiang Mai.

The town of Pai looked on from the temple. The stairway in the middle of the photo leads to the temple.

Street vendors come and go. This "Restaurant in a van" is particularly quick.

I think the vendor sells Shan noodles. We never get a chance to try because it is a full house all the time.

Mango on sticky rice is our favorite food. There is a small community of Muslims in Pai.
