Oh what a hell hole, didnt like it here at all. After we dragged ourselves away from Pai we astayed couple of nights in chang mai again and watched the compulsory thai boxing, some huige french guy with tattos fuighting a small overwieght slightly too old thai guy, a bit unfair he was out by the third round. Poor guy i felt so sorry for him, the frnch guy so arrogant. Anyway Chang rai is rubbish. Although i have to say we stayed in the nices guesthouse on the 2nd night. An old teak house with huge bed and old antique furnitre with a deers head on the wall and an old red retor fridge in the corner. That night there was a thunderstorm and i ve never been so scared. It was straight out of ... read more

Still hanging around in Chaing- Rai, coming up to my 5th day here. I bumped in to the 3 German guys that I left behind in Ayutthaya, and together with another German girl and 2 other German boys, we signed up for a trek. I know, I know, I was supposed to go with the doctor, but he didn't respond to my email until it was too late, so I missed that chance. Will probably do it some other time, when I return to Thailand. To start by telling a bit more about the trek.....hmmmm....it wasn't the easiest of treks, and he said so himself. It was more a medium, to hard trek, and he took us to places where there are normally no tourists. It was well nice, and I througroughly enjoyed it, although I ... read more

Here I am again! This time I am in Chiang- Rai in northern Thailand, having made my way up from Chiang- Rai. I arrived yesterday evening, and instantly found some new friends, one English fella, and an American girl. The Englishman is a bit of a pain, but the American girl is really nice, and we ended up having breakfast this morning. So far I like Chiang- Rai because it is a fairly quiet place, and not so stressful. Will have a look around town today, and I might sign up for a trek later on. There is a programme where you can follow a doctor around for 4 days to a month as he goes to the different hill tribes. I think this sounds fascinating, but it might take a while to get a hold ... read more

well, i've been back now from chiang rai for a couple of days now and i have to say there are some key differences between chiang rai and chiang mai. First, there is less traffic and pollution in chiang rai and thus i felt compelled to rent a motorbike at jess's encouragement. i only fell off it once but it doesn't really count because we were stopped. she just happened to get off when i wasn't prepared and the bike came toppling down on me and i came toppling down onto a nearby garbage can! and then as i tried to lift the bike off me with it still on i accidently revved the gas and was running down the street holding onto it! quite embarrasing and a lot of people were staring but after lunch ... read more

Plenty to tell since Monday! We found an actual shopping centre place here in Chang Mai (not as good as the Blancher mind) with cinema and all....did some shopping in the NIght Market as well. That night we were supposed to go to bed early because we had to be up at 6.30 the following morning to go to Chang Rai but a few ppl were heading out for drinks so we decided to join them! We started in this bar called Rasta bar where there was loads of hippies hanging around and Bob Marley music playing in the background, it was an open air bar and so cool. There was me and Ruth a couple of Irish, English, a German and a Dane (very international!!!). We decided to move on to a bar across the ... read more

Ah, non, on a pas fume d'opium.... read more

I got to the bus station in Chiang Rai with 4 swiss guys and we got a Soungthew (shared Taxi) to Chian House - which was a wonderful place with a pool and very relaxed cafe. The swiss guys headed off to Laos early the next morning, when at breakfast I met up with 4 Canadians and we went horse riding for the day: First we got taken to the army base, where we picked up the horses. I had only been riding once before, but after my travels I have become pretty confident with things, even if I don't know how to do them. We had a great day riding by the river, and climbing up many steps to a Stupa on a hill. I was trying quite a lot to get my horse to ... read more
