Hello once again and welcome to the latest entry in the only blog thats worth reading, where you can keep up to date with the goings on of my travel odyssey

After leaving Bangkok and the military coup behind myself Gary and Keith journeyed west to the area known as Kanchanaburi. we booked into a decentish hostel and had 5 cracking days in which we traced part of the hellfire pass, an area where Allied POWs built the notorious trans Burma railway, and explored the sensational Erawan national park including the famous 7 tiered waterfall

When we arrived at the park we were told it was a very challenging climb to the 7th tier itself and we should only attempt it if we wereconfident in our abilities. Pah!!. It was somewhere round bout the 4th tier that we started to figure out what the guide meant. the "trail" was in actual fact a 45 degree climb over boulders and up near vertical stairways for about 1000 ft.

As the other boys will tell you its at this point that i changed into a half Ray Mears half Rambo type being. no way was this going to beat me so i went up and up and up hell bent on reaching the summit with a slightly insane glint in my eye
Needless to say upon reaching the top the view and the swim in the top pool proved worth the sacrifice. Jammo 1 Erawan waterfall 0.

After bidding Kanchanburi farewell on Tuesday we took a 14hour train journey north to my current destination-Chiang Mai. the journey was an overnight job on a sleeper train although trying to get any kip was like trying to sleep on top of a washing machine, not pleasant.

So here i am in the north and while Gary and Keith plan on taking a Thai cookery course I hope to take a quad bike trek into the jungle. ne one who has sampled my cooking will understand why.

Will update you all on the latest adventure in about a weeks time internet connection permitting of course

Apologies once again for the lack of photos but the cafe im in has a malfunctioing USB thingy so you'll have to use your imagination. guaranteed snaps next time
