Tree
This tree has a big ribbon around it. I am guessing its like the others with ribbons, blessed by a monk and can't be taken down. Tuesday Ok, I picked the hotel filled with senior citizens, haha there is a group of about 20, 60 something's hanging here and I have not seen anyone else. I chatted with some of the ladies at breakfast, which was nice, they were all from Chicago, most retired teachers, they'll be here for three days so I'm sure ill at least have people to chat with. i guess when you go for the safe hotel instead of a guest house this is what you get. I have to say as nice as it is, I kindof liked the flavor of my one night guest house. Oh well.Ok, after a good nights sleep and breakfast I found the woman in charge of tours and booked a day bike trip through the countryside for tomorrow and then I rented a bike to go to the Taylor. I was smiling, peddling along (hard not to smile while riding a bike, )that is until I was almost run over by a tuktuk! Not only are you on the opposite side of the street, they don't seem to be big on following any sort of traffic signs. Not to mention my lack of being aware of
my surroundings! I then, more cautiously, peddled my way down to the Taylor that I had read so much about on trip advisor. I parked my bike across the street at the oldest temple in Chaing Mai. Removed my shoes and went in, much like the elephant nature park there was a tranquility that filled the space. I knelt at the alter an spent a moment of prayer. I had had a dream years ago before my mom and I went to Miraval together, it woke me up out of a sound sleep. I heard a voice say loud and clear "be a seeker of the truth" as I sat in prayer that came flooding back to me, and then I was filled with "we are all one" "every religion, every God,every person, everything" maybe that is the truth I am supposed to be seeking.... After my visit to the temple I walked to the cm Taylor and started chatting with GioGio asking about style, price, time... He showed me some beautiful machine made silk but it wasn't my vision. I had gotten a glimpse at some patterned silk that he had not shown me, so I pointed them out "those
are hand made silk" (of course out of all the fabrics I make a bee line to the top of the line) they were all so beautiful, I was wishing my sister Ellin was there cause she is way better at picking out that stuff then me. I had to resort to the "three guys Thai" to help me pick the most beautiful ones. I go back for a fitting tomorrow and they (skirts) will be done before I leave saterday ! I have to stop buying anything bigger then a deck of cards, or maybe wearing tons of layers on the plane, cause real estate in my suitcase is becoming scarce! Back at the pool chatting with the retired teachers, they bailed out on seeing more temples (apparently less is more in the land of temples) we all chat, flip, jump in the pool, repeat. The pool water is cold but the air is hot... It's all good. This afternoon, took my rented bike out for a spin, crossing some of the roads is death defying! I got lost (shocking) but only for a little while, I get so turned around here! All the young monks (monks in training) were coming home from school dressed in there long bright orange robes with their shaved heads. They look so handsome and pop out against the backdrop of the streets of chaing mai.I haven't made a plan for the evening yet, maybe the night market to try some street food. Everyone is out at night here, it must be because it gets so hot during the day for most of the year. It's really great to have all that energy bustling around at night
