Last night I decided to take my camera to the night bazar, I find I have to umph myself out the door being in my own (I would have been happy curled up with a book.) but between worrying I'm not going to be here long and that if I lounge around I won't sleep, I made myself go out. I walked about 20 minutes to get there, and I decided to hang out and people watch. I sat on the steps leading up to some shrine and a couple in there 60's sat next to me. They were from Canada and had been traveling around the world for 25 years! They filled me in on the do's and dont's how I paid way to much for my hotel, how much Chaing Mai had changed in the last 5 years, how busy it's gotten... They were headed for Lao. We talked for a while until the bugs came out an I had to move along.i stood to go and realized that my shirt is on inside out. This is twice in two days. I might be becoming g an old crazy lady, ( I decided that is what people would think
Rice drying in the sun
Actually little yummy rice cakes anyway and I would be less desirable in an abduction situation, so I left it) hahaha. I ran into the 60 something group from my hotel and they offered to let me hitch a ride back with them later and I was very happy to except! I walked around, found where the Thai boxers were training and took my camera to get some shots... They seemed to enjoy the attention. I wandered around until I met up with my new old friends, and in the van on the way back they told me there group travels all over the place and they do biking barge trips through Europe. they go every year. They seemed to have a ball together (it was like St.James East) came back and took a bath in my ginormous round tub (I mention this cause I can't seem to find which way I am supposed to be facing... So I keep rotating) this is much like me walking around Chiang Mai ! Up and out early for my bike ride through the country side!tuktuk took me to the office where I met Gunter (German,60 whatever) and Alex and Daniel (Australian 20 whatever) and our guide (forgot
his name) we wee about ten miles in when I asked how far we were going... 70 miles "wtf??? I didn't read that in the enjoy Thailand's countryside! Oh well, off we went. It was a long day so ill give you the highlights..... We stopped at a Chinese temple, cool, then at a terra cotta place ( I felt maybe his brother owned it, he wanted us to buy stuff and I am like "dude, we are on bikes" any who... Then we went to a market, looked around, rode to have lunch (it was very good) then we went to the crematorium/chicken fighting place. Yes, that is not a spell check mishaps open fire pit ablaze... With some poor soul having to witness a stones throw away 40 pumped up Thai guys and there chickens fighting. For a moment I was thinking "there are no women here, this is not a good place to be" let's get out of here, but the German guy wanted to stay for a bit. I took pictures of the guys and there prized chickens and watched a vet sew up one of the chickens, they said they fought until one chicken "chickened
out" and ran away.. I couldn't watch and was happy to get the hell out of there! Then we went to a bakery in the middle of nowhere, we went to a lepracy colony (they used to house 300 lepers at this hospital, now they are turning it into a home for homeless and elderly. ) then we went to a primary school and saw the kids, and anther temple or two and back we came. I returned and had to go to the Taylor to be fitted for my skirts (48 hour turn around, sweet!) and had drinks with my new old friends.... Tomorrow I think will be poolside.
