Loi Krathong, the river festival, took place while we were in Chiang Mai. This is one of many styles of floats designed to float on the river as a present to the river goddess.

Most floats were made with banana stumps and leaves and decorated with flowers, candles, incense, and more.

Another tradition of the festival, the sky was filled with these peacefully glowing lanterns that used their own hot air to stay a drift in the sky.

Many people put money offerings on their river floats, which children grabbed as the floats made their way downstream.

Ah! I love the photos, I just miss your witty, informative narratives. That being said, I'm happy you're experiencing these travels fully. In my humble opinion, bloggers that stop frequently to record events often miss other events. Life it up! Your faithful readers will have to be patient and wait until you're home.
