ayutthaya

Hi all,
Thanks for the comments which were lovely to read. We enjoyed our 1 night in Bangkok and then went to Khao Yai National Park. We had a brilliant 1 1/2 day tour, the first part we joined with a Danish couple who were both zoo keepers- Mark & the guy hit it off straight away with their mutual love of wildlife quickly comparing photos taken and snakes seen (whilst us females sat & rolled our eyes!) Within a few minutes down the road the guide had seen a snake which he promptly handed to Mark- a little too close for my liking! However, it was an oriental whip snake only mildly venomous apparently! We saw other very intersting wildlife including bats (in a cave), scorpion spiders (which we held) gibboms and a pit viper(Mark spotted!) We spent saturday night in a dark cave looking for tarantulas( think I prefer watching strictly come dancing!). We had a brief stop in Ayutthaya the old ancient city of Thailand it was lovely to be there during the festival which celebrates the end of the rainy season- they light candles in baskets of flowers and float them on the river. We arrived in Chang mai, northern Thailand last night after an 11 hour train journey- lovely scenery outside the train but little cockroaches in the train!. We have enjoyed walking around this lovely city & i've just had my first Thai massage which was lovely (no pain, no gain & all that).
Tomorrow we are doing a Thai cookery course and then going on a 2 day Trek.
We'll write again soon and hopefully upload some photos
Lots of love
Jo & Mark

Cool!!
Hi dudes! I love the travel blog...why didn't I know about that when I went travelling?! I'm now going to become your official stalker! (Sorry if I'm scaring you!) Glad you're having a great time and that you like Libra Guesthouse. I wonder if the cookery course will be the same? So funny to think of you staying there and doing the same things that I did nearly 3 years ago. Take care and have lots of fun. Lots of love, Jen xxx

you HELD scorpion spiders? you actually, by choice, HELD spiders? you HELD them? why would you do such a thing? you went LOOKING for tarantulas? you chose to bring yourselves into close proximity with them? you LOOKED for them? why would you do such things? WHY? there was a large spider in the shower in the corner of a consulting room at the cottage hospital today (not entirely sure why there was a shower there at all) and i could barely concentrate on the consultation cos i was so busy keeping an eye on it in case it found its way out and attacked me. DONT GO LOOKING FOR SPIDERS IT'S A SILLY THING TO DO. xxx
