After a busy day in cooking school. We prepared and ate 5 dishes. I was feeling a bit fat and heavy so I decided to go for a photo walk. Lumphini park is one of the most beautiful parks in Bangkok and its just a couple of blocks from my apartment. I loaded my backpack with the zoom lens and the wide angle just in case and grabbed the tripod. I was hoping to get nighttime shots of the buildings over the lake. On the way out I dropped off my laundry in the ally next door. 30 THB per load. It’s more expensive if I do it my self. The machine next door is 40 THB and I have to go to the roof and buy soap…this way the nice ladies even fold my laundry. I just hope they don’t loose anymore of my underwear.
It was almost 18:00 when I got to the park and the day had cooled down a lot. The park was super busy with people excersising, reading or just hanging out. I headed straight for the big lake to look for a place to photograph the sunset from.
I
found an outdoor swimming pool in the middle of the park for members only. For 40 THB a year a foreigner can use it. I thought that was super cool go for an hour swim to stretch my back from all the walking I do. The only thing is that I need a health certificate form a local hospital or doctor. Another mission just added to my list. On the way there I passed by the outdoor gym that I photographed last week and it was full of big muscle guys lifting weights. I wish I had taken more photographs not because of the guys but because the gym is super rustic. I didn’t want to be intrusive. Everyone noticed I was there with a camera and I didn’t want to interrupt their routine. The gym is old school, each machine is painted in primary colors and it has lots of potetial for amazing photographs. Maybe I will shoot some black and whites their soon. I waved bye and kept walking …then I heard the same music I heard last time I walked the park. There were doing the workout dance again. I have to find out how the dance
its called. So cool. I walked through them with the video function on and then stopped to the side to take some shots. Then I just decided to put my stuff on the floor in front of me and joined them. The kids were laughing I guess they noticed I had no idea what I was doing. I was just trying to follow the sequence but didn’t understand a word of the instructions. I was just having fun and sweating my butt off. The sun set behind us and I didn’t see it. Instead I set my tripod towards the stretching part of the work out and tried to catch the skytrain behing the people with not good results. Then I moved on and walked around the lake. By then it was dark and all the lights of the city were on. A lot of people were still running, biking, rollerblading and I felt very safe. I took some shots of the buildings and then I headed home to look at them. I hope I got some fun shots to show.
