Our last breakfast 😞
I know I have harped on about it a bit but the breakfast in the Lebua was brilliant we would spend an hour eating to fill ourselves up and then we didnt need lunch! Any way we had an early breakfast and then to the task of packing, I managed it alright G on the other hand DISASTER! She tried packing and unpacking 3 times to the point of tears so 15 mins before checkout I had to step in and do it for her, we got finished in the nick of time 😊
So we had 6 hours to till before our bus to Chang Mai so we got a taxi to the Grand Palace and then it started raining!!!
When we got out of the taxi the rain was pretty heavy there were people selling umbrellas for 350b I got one for 100b and just as we put it up the heavens opened the rain was torrential and it didnt let up, but we didnt let a bit of water stop us, at this stage my shoes were swimming. The Grand Palace is something else though it is all so shiny and
sparkly!
We left the Grand Palace to go back to the hotel and hopefully get a shower, they let us use the fitness centre to shower thank God and we were able to get our bags (which were being stored as we checked out that morning) and a change of clothes. Did all that I was waiting in the lobby for G to pack her stuff back in, which took her forever. Turns out she had to get the bell boy to help her repackas she is just that helpless!!!
The Bell boy recommended we leave for the bus an hour and a half early because of the traffice and rain so we did and decided to get food there.
We had booked on the bus to Chang Mai for 8.30pm we were to go the the train station where we would get a shuttle bus from there at 7pm to the bus station.
So ww get to the train station and the place is crazy busy we assumed this was normal until a couple got talking to G and explained all the trains to Chang Mai had been cancelled due to the rain and they have
to put on extra buses (we were thinking to ourselves happy days we booked the bus instead) anyway the next two hours were madness.
So they had put on more buses from the bus station to CM but not from the train station to the bus station. So after been moved from one area at the train station to another area and left standing for 30mins (with 15kg backpacks on) the organiser finnally told us they only had one small shuttle bus that would hold 20 people and they would have to do 3 or 4 runs to get everyone to the bus station and the bus was going at 10pm.
So Panic stations, everyone was going crazy it was mayhem they it was somehoe decided that children and old people get to go 1st but I am like no way we booked this on Friday you lot only booked 2 hours ago we want the 8.30 bus!!!!
After alot of to-ing and fro-ing cus the minibus was full the organinser brought us in a taxi which we paid for we were the last people on the 8.30pm bus and it left 2 mins after we got
on it. So in the end it was all ok I guess but the stress not fun.
So then we had a 10hour bus journey ahead of us not much to report about the bus journey it was comfortable enough and there was a half hour stop with food half way through. There was a group of 5 really obnoxious Germans who insisted on shouting at each other even though they were sitting right beside each other turns out they are staying at our hotel too)
So we arrived in Chang Mai bus station at 5.30am and we were waiting for our pick up it arrived a little minibus and they took our bags and put them on the roof, as you do, and away we went.
Arrived at the hotel they offered us tea/coffee and were very friendly, got us checked in quick enough. So we went up to the room got into ged and conked out think it was the bast sleep we had so far 😊
That brings us into day 6, so I will update day 6 later
