Aloha! Nice to be blogging again. We are once again really enjoying Bangkok. The food is amazing and there are mostly friendly people. Transportation is cheap, electronics are cheap, cool clothes, heat appropriate, are cheap, and wow do I love the weather. It rained a full-on squall on our daily boat taxi commute this morning. Then it warmed up, the sun came out, and it's paradise again!
Heather and I are thriving together, even after a day of miles of walking, city madness, and a missed boat taxi home. We ended up taking a car taxi (for much more money, a whopping ten dollars) and met a great driver who spent the time talking about his life and teaching us 1-10 in Thai. Heather learned it MUCH faster and more accurately than I did. Whatever.
Today we shop for a wee laptop so we can use the ever-present Wifi around here. Much different than last time we were here. Then it was all Internet cafes and wireless was unheard of. Yay technology... sometimes.
We are looking in to India tickets and Visas. The tix are more expensive than what we had anticipated, but certainly cheaper than flying from the States. We have to leave Thailand after 30 days anyway, so it's still likely to be there. We're open to Laos, Indonesia, Bali, Vietnam, etc, too. Life is so grand.
Our visit with Heather's Aunt Riki was very brief, as she flew out to California after one day with us. Some sort of irony or some such there, no doubt. Yik speaks very little English (more than my Thai) but is so kind that we get by just fine anyway. Their house is far from the places we hang out, which is cool in that we get to witness rural life that most tourists miss, but blah in that it's a long commute. ~ minutes by longtail boat! OK; my keyboard is screwy, the downside of internet cafes! I guess I shall wrap this up! We will chat soon
