After the Perhentian islands we headed up to Khota Bharu and crossed the border into Thailand. From where we got a 4 hour minibus ride to Hat Yai and an overnight bus to Bangkok. We stayed in 'Ýour home' guest house in Soy Kasem San and this is where we had our first hot shower for ages. It was bliss and when the Chicken cashew was washed down by a Singh beer later I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. We ate with Kate and Shaun from Basingstoke that evening whome we had arranged to meet. They had just arrived back from 4 weeks in Phukett and were looking very tanned and relaxed. Seems like they had a wonderful time there. Afterwards we went and got a Massage from nearby their posh hotel. We all made a pact to come back one day and do a course in Thai massage and cooking. So we said farewell and spent the next few days chilling in Bangkok. Took in the Grand palace and went for a walk around the parks. This is where Cindy did Aerobics with thousands of other people of all shapes, sizes, races and religions. It was really good

fun and I took a movie of it if any wants to see it (Better ask Cindy's permission first though!) We travelled on to Chiang Mai for a few days.

This seems to be the Bohemian capital of Thailand. There was a cool night scene there and some fabulous tours to go on. Everything based around tourism and there are many different courses to go on if you have the time or need to learn a bit more of the Thai culture. Spent the first day on a tour which included 1 hr trekking to visit settlements (Meong and White Karem) don't rely on the spelling here. These are settlements, usally from China and Laos who live in the hills. We also did an elephant trek, which included feeding them at the end. Our elephant was called Ben. We are not really too sure if it is cruel to use elephants in this way especially considering the sheer amount of tourists doing the same thing. Maybe we can start up an elephant conservation program when we get back and invite people to come and play with elephant poo. Ok I'll stop it with the Poo gags. We visited a

few more tribes, took a trip down a river on a bamboo raft where we got drenched by all the locals as we drifted pass. The rafts were made of Bamboo and were steered by locals running up and down madly changed course and keeping us under control. Thank goodness as the river was pretty wild in parts.
In the evening we went to the Roof top bar. This place has a really good vibe inside and overlooks the Chiang Mai Sunday Market where Cindy has spent our remaining budget on presents. He He He. We swapped half a bottle of beer for a Malaysian Cigar from an American guy. We haven't smoked it yet cos judging by the rest of the people in the Bar it could contain some illegal substances! Enjoy the photo's guys and girls and can't wait to see you all in a few months time.

This is where Cindy blew the rest of our budget. This was the view from the Roof top bar. They served the best Pad Thai Noodles we have had so far (even though it was a vegetarian restaurant)!
