Muching Pad Thai on Kho Sahn
Flight was not too bad and now I find myself in Bangkok! The first day when it was just Kim and I wasn't fantastic, Bangkok is the kind of city where you need a group of you so since we have all met up it's been a lot better. From stepping off the plane I met some random people, like the guy from Dubai that had no luggage, weird. I also got chatting to a guy from New Zealand on the bus and he was actually quite normal and interesting. We spent the first night on Kho San road, which is very crazy and basically a load of bright lights. I had some street food, Pad Thai, cooked freshly for me for just 50p so that was good. Friday we went temple hunting. We paid a taxi man 2.50 to take us around 3 temples and wait for us at each one so that was a bargain. The temples are all really beautiful and a unique site in the hustle and bustle of the city. That evening we went out for a meal in Kho San after trekking the whole of Bangkok for restaurants in the guide book that all seemed

to be closed, apparently it was a national holiday! So we ended back in Kho San. I had garlic and pepper shrimp with sex on the beach (the cocktail!). We then went to Gazebo which was a really funky roof top bar that had live bands playing. We did strawberry shisha pipes (which by the way parentals are completely legal and just steam and flavouring, or so I'm told!) and ended the night with Margarita's back at the hotel, my new favourite cocktail! Today after our late night we decided to meet for breakfast at half 7, clever plan because Katie overslept and she was the wake up gal who was meant to be ringing everyone's rooms. We were out the hotel by half 8 however, and we walked to the grand palace and the temple of the emerald buddha it was really hot as we had to wear long trousers and tops not good in 35 degree heat. The two places were really ornate and we think the King still lives there but not too sure. I had a fresh coconut to drink in the cafe, really good. They just hacked at this coconut with a machete and put

a straw in! Then we walked to the river and hired a traditional flat boat that took us down the canals. Was rickety and dodgy especially when passing boats! So was quite scary when we saw this lizard snake thing, did not want to capsize after that! Off to singburi tommorrow and so not entirely sure what the internet situation will be like!
