I don't remember everything. I clearly remember leaving the island in the back of a pickup truck with 13 other people and their belongings. I remember arriving back in Bangkok after a 7 hour bus ride. I remember making fun of Paci and New York for hanging bug nets because there were ants in our room. I remember Eric leaving us this morning to head back to Indonesia, where he'll arrive back home in a few days. It's everything after this where my mind and thoughts fog and only snippets remain.
Bangkok has a weekend market. Anything you can buy in Southeast Asia can be bought in one of the 12,000 stalls. We had not purchased ANYTHING, jackets not included, until this point. We went down the first 3 rows of the market, each row being a little under a 1/4 mile in length. We were picky, we were fussy, and we were bargainers that would not budge. After an hour of "oh, I'm not so sure", we broke the seal at a silk shop and it all went down hill from there. We collectively bought jewelry, drums, scarves, lights, vase, bed covers, back scratchers, ties, t-shirts, dresses, etc. You
could buy everything from knives, gas masks, guns, squirrels on a leash, art work, and furniture. I almost bought a puppy, which won't seem as bad when I tell you I slowly walked away from the man offering to put my hair in dreadlocks for just under $4. We had to leave after a few hours because it was so unbearably hot, bags in tow, that our heads began to pound from the sun beating down on us, not even a friendly cloud in the sky to help us out for a few short moments. What we would have done to have some of that island rain again.
And so this is how we spent the first 24 hours of our last 48 hours. Tomorrow we will go to the palace and visit the Emerald Buddha. We are all feeling a bit anxious because we know the only thing left is a 25 hour flight home, not something we are looking forward to.
Thanks again for checking in on us. I may miss blogging when I get home. I find that it's been something I look forward to each night as a way to process the days events
and emotions.

Well I must admit, I will be sad when the blog is over so I'm hoping that this one was not the last. Although I'm thrilled to think that in just a couple days I can hug you. I can't wait! I will see you at Logan and I'm sure I'll cry my eyes out. Have a safe trip home. Be safe and God Bless! Love you!!!
No, that wasn't my last blog, but they are numbered. Don't let Janice boss you around. I know she's scary, but stay tough. When in doubt you can call her by any of my little pet names. They include: B, Bailey, J-Nice, Banker Bailey, Ma Bailey, or Dung Beatle Bailey. It's completely safe online because she is incapable of turning on a copmuter, let alone finding this specific address. I'll see you early Wednesday morning. We can hang at the Bailey's for a bit....until you can't stand the smell of us any longer. Looking forward to it!
Wait, Anne's desses never came in? Where did she order a dress for me? Do you have it now? Is she flipping out? Do you enjoy being a stand in maid of honor for me?
don't fret k-ho this will not be your last blog nor your last chance at writing. After the week I had at Columbia I am expecting some serious writing from all of you.. this blog was a great introduction! I am so proud of all you have accomplished. I have loved following you as you braved bus rides, train rides, and mice in your room- you have had a lifetime of learning in just a few short weeks. Have a safe journey back- you have a lot to look forward to back here in Medford!
You may just be the lucky winner of one of my suit jackets, seeing as I bought 5 total. At least now I can return the jacket I borrowed from you last November. I can't wait to hear about Columbia. My ears are open and waiting to learn your lessons.
Hi, Well sounds like you all enjoyed your shopping/bargaining ventures immensely. You deserve it. Great way to end your amazing adventures, with all the trials and tribulations that went with it. You have done more than most people. Be proud!!! I can't wait to hear your stories and see you back at school. I'm sure we will all learn more from you then although we have been taught much from your blogs already. I can't wait to see you in the jacket(s). Did you get enough????? Enjoy your last day and safe travels.
Love Lucille
P.S. How are you going to get all this stuff in that backpack home, or are you leaving all that old stuff now back there.?????
Looking at that picture of worms I bet hotdogs don't seem that gross.
Please don't let this be your last blog. I really enjoyed yur blogging while you away. The clothes look nice, I can't wait to see them and you. I am the only SSCer in Mass today, they are all WWR '08. Your journey has opened my eyes, I may not be ready to adventure to SEA. I am thinking next year, I will go WWR and really raft. One day I will take the BIG jump and take an adventure someplace, that takes me out of my comfort zone and opens my eyes! Thanks for all the blogging, and may this just be the begining of KHo;s Blogs!
Have a safe trip back to the states! I can't wait to see you.
Enjoy your flight and return to the land of the fat. I'm back in Boston, but I'm heading to GB on Monday. Looking forward to swapping the x rated versions with everyone when next we all meet!

Well the count down begins. Hopefully you will be glad to be back
home with a shower and clean linen. Kris how would you have
gotten the puppy home. Do you know how much work that would
be for you. I wont know what to do with myself once there is no
more blogging. I have looked forward to and enjoyed very much
all that you have written. Have a safe trip.
I don't know how you left there without purchasing a couple of puppies and a sword. I can tell you that those would have been my first of many impulse buys. Love the jackets! I can't wait to see how they turned out.
You have truly uncovered your inner blogger. You should keep going with a non-travel blog, you're good at this, Miss Howell! Here's to sleeping for 20 hours of the flight!
Kristin, Thank you so much sharing your adventure with us through your blog. It has been wonderful in many ways. You have such a way with words & like someone else said, it was like a good book you just couldn't put down. I can't wait to meet & Nicole @ the airport. Have a safe trip. Hi to Macaela & Courtney. Love mom/Jude PS I love your new white coat!
Hey Howell. I hope you have a safe flight home. We'll all have to get together and talk about your adventure. I'm sure theres alot more than what you blogged about. I'm going to miss the blogs too. I felt like I was there. Love you. Be safe.
Nope, Anne's dress never came in and none of the bridal party dresses are in. She called again today - me and Ma have been figuring out what size you are. Based on not seeing you the last 6 weeks I told her a bigger size vs the smaller size just incase. You can always take in, but to take out is not as easy. Especially since you'll get this dress 3 days before the wedding. But please, shower before you get alterations. I'm thinking that may be a must. Ma mentioned something to me about strapless. She called me while I was working today but I couldn't answer thinking she was going to talk cake anyways. But nope, more dress issues so she called the house and Momma told her the size and style - soooooooooooooo, if you hate it, not much we can do for ya. haa! So yup, "my maid of honor duties" are good - I've figured out the dress for you, doing the wedding cake and doing the rehearsal dinner cake. Not bad! I don't know what Anne is doing about her own dress. Scary. I offered her mine and based on the fact I'm 5 feet and she's closer to 6 we didn't think it would work! ha! So no, we don't have a dress here for you yet. I'll call her again tomorrow. Boy do you owe me - I think I've done more for you from Thailand to Meffa then Meffa to Meffa. I can't wait for the payback! Be safe and love you!
Kristin, OMG I sure hope you have some peanut butter and crackers left so you don't have to eat any of those snacks you sent pictures of. By the way, do not buy a puppy, I will gladly hand deliver you Maggie. Look at the bright side, she's already potty trained and Jaclyn would be able to ride her:) I'm so glad your adventure is almost over, but I will miss reading your blogs. Have a safe trip home. Be safe and careful. God Bless!!
I am looking forward to seeing you. Your blogging has been an added bonus to my days at home with the kids... bored with NOTHING to do. I wore my comfy white skirt at Columbia!! The best outfit of the week by far!
L, Camille
Thank you so much for a great summer excursion...I only wish it could have been in smellivision and feelivision...for the most part...Have a safe journey home see you in a couple weeks..
I have to say that I wasn't all too thrilled to leave Thailand. Bangkok maybe, Thailand not so much. I got completely screwed by my taxi driver. After driving for 30 minutes I realized we were nowhere near the airport and had only been driving in circles. First the bed on the floor, now this...what next? Enjoy your last 24!
You mean to tell me that the all knowing Paci was taken for a ride? Today will be a good day. Enjoy Bali and your surfing. See you soon!
Hello! You def did not want to smell the journey, see and feel it, sure, but no smells. See you soon.
Oh, I bet you were a knock out in that skirt!! See you soon.
No thanks on Maggie! I would rather have bought the pet squirrel.
SO, you and Ma chose my dress for Anne's wedding? PLEASE tell me she didn't put me in baby girl pink. If she did, I swear I am NOT leaving Thailand. Should I be scared? Glad you got the larger size.... who knows what it will be like to be in real clothes again.
Hey Debbie! I'll see you on the 30th, right? At Cop's wedding?
Macaela just peered over my should and said "Of course she commented on your jacket. That's my mom." Can't wait to meet you!
Oh, I really hope you are right about sleeping for 20 hours. Maybe the pit in my stomach would go away if I knew that were true. Ready to be the mom of TWO middle schoolers?!
Who knows what else YOU would have bought. I'm sure something strange and unusual.

Who knows what else YOU would have bought. I'm sure something strange and unusual.
I'll miss reading your plays, and stories.....but most of all I'll miss seeing you and speaking to you each morning. I wish you could stay up on our floor!!!!! Come say hi each day!!!!!
Hi...Before you know it you will be home...I hope you are looking forward to it as much as everyone is having you back. Don't worry Kris no pink for you...You really are a great writer and many people have followed along with you and sometimes been with you...Amazing..I hope the next trip is a bit shorter..I have tears in my eyes on how much (more or less) I have enjoyed following along with all the others...See you soon...Love Mom
Court, I love the suit!!!! You should buy a puppy for dad :-) I finished all 60 miles!!!
Can't wait to see you on Wed!!! :-)
You'll see me every morning for breakfast. I'm a 4th floor girl at heart. Although I'll be completely loyal to my new floor I'll secretly be wishing to once again be part of the penthouse. See you VERY soon.
It's just that the color pink turns my stomach and I know it's selfish of me to request the bride to not consider a color, but pink. Sounds like Anne is a champ though and put me in grey. Can't wait to see the mystery dress. My fingers are crossed.
I know you dislike pink but you and your sister always looked so cute in it...Like it or not..Be safe coming home..and your new clothes look great...Are you packing them in your back-pack?? Just curious. Love Mom
By the way....You look like you may have lost a few pounds..You didn't need to but I understand...The jackets are lovely...You will wear them I am sure...By the way we got you strapless on the gown...I had said strapless rather then halter and your sister confirmed. Kiss Kiss
Maybe I should have come with you...sounds like I could have furnished my whole place at the flea market! Miss you lots. Travel home safely!
