good day all

We have been back in bangkok now for......a few days i suppose. Got here thursday evening. I like this city. Its fast. its dirty. great for people watching. We are staying at the same hostel as my first entry. The Green House Inn. Its right behind Khao San Rd. Which again is the backpackers mecka. you see people from all walks of life here. That is FO SURE!!!!This time we were able to share the twin room that has 2 twin rooms. saves us abt 30 baht a night. so like a US dollar a day. lol hey! every little bit helps. Were heading out to Krabi tomorrow afternoon. We were warned by several backpackers not to waste time or money on phuket. As it is mostly geared for the resorter and VERY VERY expensive. SO right now were trying to get our flight and accomodations all figured out for that trip. Krabi only has one flight a day from bangkok so it kinds screws up our original plans.

anywho, Our first night here we didnt do too much. We got dinner walked khaosan rd and hopped on the good ol internet. The internet is a beautiful thing here. Talk about a business opportunity. This room is always full. The same with all the other internet rooms we pass on the street. As far as on khaosan rd theres probably 2 dozen internet shops. 75 hostels/ guesthouses and many hotels. So its good that you can come here with no plans and just find a place. We met an english guy in the internet room the other day who has been traveling since NOV! can you believe that. pretty crazy. He mostly takes the train and bus when possible. You can really travel cheap that wat but I can only be on a bus for so long without getting sick.

Back to our adventures.....On friday we got up early and decided to break out the map and just walk. Not the best idea (my feet hate me). We walked N, NW i guess for about 2 hours. We passed the flower market-which my mom would have loved. We passed all sorts of temples. We even almost got hit by a car while trying to run across 4 lanes of traffic. good times! Note to everyone!!!! when someone comes up to you and asks where you are going and starts showing you things on the map-heres how to know they are full of shit and trying to run a game on you.
1. they ask what country you are from?
2. they throw out a price as to how much should cost for you to go to all these temples
3. when a tuk tuk appears from nowhere behind him

Grab your map and say no thanks and jet!

happened to me- lol then happened to nate LOL- (he thought he was so smart and could spot them a mile away). Im sure Thai people are nice but never if they approach you on the street. If you are lost or want to know the best way ask your desk person at hostel or server at restaurant. They are always willing to help at no extra fee. Now if you need a cab or tuk tuk- dont fear. they are EVERYWHERE!!!! and i mean that. Like ants on an antfarm really. one on top the other. And they will be asking you if you need "tuk tuk" or "cab" even if you just got out of one or if you are eating

this was the day we went exploring for a hours.
dinner at a table. its really quite annoying. Be sure to agree on place and price before you get in. If you are lucky and have time actually get a cab that uses a meter. I heard someone did so from the airport to khaosan for 50 baht where cab can be 400 baht and bus is 150 (always go bus before cab unless you get the meter one).

anywho,,,,we walked for quite a while. saw the flower markets, some temples, some poverty. good stuff. Later that night we got Thai massages.! good nd painful at the same time. cracked everything from my toes to my neck. Lol. wanted to go back for the pedicure and facial but didnt make it back there unfortunately.

Saturday morning we got up and caught a cab and headed to chatuchuk Market. WOW!!! talk abou a lot of stuff. Hundreds and hundreds of little stands selling even more of everything then khaosan rd. I bought some little glass plate things to use for my soy sauce when i tear up some sushi back in korea!! 5 baht each. i think thats about 5 cents?? lol. nate was disappointed. He thought it

amazing how people live here
would be less of the same things that we already saw on khao san rd.

On sunday morning we got up at 6am to get ready for the floating market. Our bus was almost 20 min late. (unlike korea-where everyone and thing is on time thailand cabs and buses are fn slow) We thought for a moment we had the wrong date. Since our ride was late and our ticket had sunday with mondays date. luckily we waited around and our shuttle finally arrived. We had a long hour ride through the middle of nowhere where the floating market boats were. They had squatters (toilets) that charged 5 baht to use it. Worse then porta potties at gasparilla. You have to pour water in it to flush it. nasty! lol

we then all boarded this metal longboat with a crazy ass thai woman driver. our boat lunged forward and side to side. we passed all the houses on the water. I saw people washing dishes and clothes in the same water our boat was in. Lovely i must say. lol. From there we came to the actual floating market area. We have tons of pics from here which

eventually will get posted. You have a choice to eaither walk around the one market or pay more to actually get in the wooden longboats to actually go through the floating market. We decided we might as well go while we were there. Quite the experience. Dozens of boats ramming into each other. It was fun and well worth it I think. Something you have to go see at least once but I most likely wouldnt go back again.
